You know by the production date. After 2/15 you're good.

As Billfitz said, your production date is 04/14, so you have the old set up.

Just keep an ear or two on it and then after 70k/7 years (extended warranty expires) you can consider having the work done out of your own pocket. Or risk it up to 100k+ miles for less reimbursement from BMW.

Got 70k on my 2013 n20 engine is stout I wouldn't get worried too much unless you start hearing a whining coming from the engine (trust me the forums scared the fuck outta me too.) I check sometimes take the oil filler cap off use a rag you'll be splashed sometimes not fun don't recommend and listen you can easily tell if you do that since the timing chain is right there. Anyways good luck!

Is it really the timing chain that is the issue here? It doesn't have any revisions as far as I can tell.

It is the oil pump chain drive that had 2 revisions at 04/15 and 01/16.
