BMW Style 397 wheels

Hi all,

I’m looking into buying a used set of BMW style 397 wheels as a spare set of alloys for winter, they come with 225/40 x 18 tyres all round (square set up).

Just wanted to see if these will fit ok on my F31 340i (which currently has 19" staggered alloys) and clear the blue brake calipers. Also anyone have pics with them on?

Cheers guys!

I have the same on mine, 370mm fronts and they clear no problem...But mine are 225/45/18. For a 340i you're obviously ok for transfer box etc but thought I'd mention I think at 225 they 'should' be /45.

Thanks for this mate - looks decent.

I think the alloys/tyres I am looking at were originally on a 135i so the tyres are 225/40/18s. You reckon these would be ok? The tyres on the style 397 alloys are winter ones if that makes any difference

It's not the end of the world to go with 40 over 45

Have you managed to get any 397s,

I have some in the garage that I had on my 330d and 440i.. the 440i had the big brakes and blue callipers, so fit fine.

I haven't had them fit on anything for last 2 years as I have a 335d now and haven't bothered. They have winters on them and would prob do one winter..

Let me know if your interested, they aren't in the best condition but i wouldn't want much for them either.

I don't think they have tpms sensors though.. my first f30 had the old style tpms without sensors.
