N20 Timing chain question
I am thinking about proactively replacing my timing chain in the Charlotte area. My car is still under a CPO warranty till 100k miles but I am at 84k and my warranty runs out next November.
Curious if anyone has had there’s replaced in the Charlotte area and can recommend a good indie shop. Also curious if anyone has had or seen a failure on a 320i? I have seen many X3 and 328i owners stating failures but have yet to see a 320i. I know it’s the same parts but wondered if the lower HP/stress would make it less prone to failure? |

I've been rounds with all the local dealers in Charlotte. They all claim their is no recommended service for the timing chain, and that there is no need to replace it, but ofcourse I can bring it in to be "looked over" for a fee. My 428i have 60k miles and ive felt the chain through the oil fill hole. Its loose. Cheapest I've found is 2k around here. I'm going buy the timing tool and kit and do it myself.
