That actually makes sense, good analogy. Still kind of odd to me that an upgraded FMIC would slow a stage 1 car down though, just a weird thought to digest. I would've thought that the drop in IATs would've at least compensated for the little bit of loss you're getting from the extra volume added in the intercooler, but I guess not. I trust you though, what you're saying definitely makes sense.

They're not mutually exclusive. At the high end there is probably an improvement in the timing from the lower IATs but at the lower end there is more lag.

True, you don't see the IAT benefits until the latter part of a pull anyway.

Which is the most important part.

All drag runs normally keep you above 5k rpm and thats where stuff starts heating up. You also want IAT to drop quickly if you were idle waiting to go on the line, on a normal 80-85F day, you could be at 110-120F idle IAT.

Exactly.

R, remember that Stage 1 keeps the boost around stock and is typically taking more advantage to pull power from the timing. So if the boost chain is remaining the ~same~ as stock, it's just not accounting to push enough early to fill it quick enough. Hell, there is even such a thing as too big of an FMIC for Stage 2!

I'm running the updated version 4 of the OTS ST1 93 OCT. i was running the OTS ST2 93 OCT with the VRSF DP, but decided to go back to stock DP and downgrade it back to ST1.

How do you set the burbles in the configurable settings area though? Sounds like a lot for a stock DP.

Also, why did you make the decision to go back to stage 1 after stage 2? I'm almost certainly about to go up to stage 2 and curious why you made the switch back.

it was a personal choice. the VRSF dp was awesome and loud AF. but i drive my 2yr daughter to and from school everyday. every morning when i start up the car, i didnt want her inhaling those exhaust fumes inside the garage, and vice-versa.

In regards to the burbles on stage 1, what were your configurations for aggressiveness and duration? Also will this melt the kitty in the stock downpipe? The burble sounds are to die for!

I don't know about melt, but that's why I was asking. Agressive burbles are not good for the cat and they will damage it over time. Little ones are fine, like the ones you (I) get setting them to OEM in the configurables menu. The burbles in the video above sound too aggressive for the stock cat.

My AWE exhaust and Wagner catless come in later in July. Personally I am running with stock exhaust and BM3 stage 1 with burbles set to 5 AGG and 2 seconds duration. Pretty sure I’m hurting the kitty everyday =/

You are... I'm running OEM so when I sell the car I still have a good downpipe when I go back to stock. Should be catless soon enough though.

Definitely be careful. I'd personally baby the cat even if you are taking it off. You will likely put it back on if/when you sell the car. Too many burbles will melt that poor thing and knock it around.

Has either of you gone ahead with the bm3 flash?

Also MEVD1724 here. Build date 04/12.

Experienced users care to chime in?

Will I have to request a custom map to make sure things work out well?

Main concern is daily drivability since I daily drive mine to work
