Keep in mind that the 2016 is the first year of the new engine and it might be more problematic than the 17 and 18 |

Depends what your goals are. As a daily driver I think you'll be happier with either. Mod support is better for N55 since it's been out for longer but the B58 is going to be the better platform to tune in the years to come. If I were choosing a daily I'd say 340 if you can afford it. Newer, warranty, most updated and most valuable. I think you'll be happy with both

I have a 2016 340 xDrive with 22k miles on it. I absolutely love this engine. It is a torque monster! I also have the Dinan piggyback and I haven't had an issue with the engine so far (knock on wood). On long trips I get about 35 mpg. With NYC driving I average 24. I am considering buying my car out when the lease is up next month. FMG how much are they asking for the 340?

If price and mileage are similar, I'd go for the newer, but if 2015 has lower mileage, I'd take that one. As for appearance, I actually prefer the pre-LCI day time running lights, apparently they are more brighter than the LCI LEDs

I mean, the real deal breaker is the sliding cupholder cover on the 2016 as opposed to the remove and store cover on the 335.
Also they supposedly made some suspension tweaks, but don't think I ever was able to track down what exactly those were. Never drove the 335i, but couldn't be happier with the 340i, especially now with the aforementioned MPPSK. |

Totally the 340. Not just the engine, but the LCI car is improved in other small ways.

I agree with this. I've actually leased a 2015 335i for 2 years, and then ended up purchasing a new 2016 340i in 2017. Both cars were Sportline models and RWD. My 340i came with a lot more standard options than the 335i, like the HK sound system. I think with the 335, I only miss the brightness of the HID lights, as the standard LED lights in the 340 are not as bright. Not sure of what the remaining warranty is like with each of the cars the OP is looking at.
