Quick questions, can I use an external 2.5" USB HDD instead of a 32gb thumb drive? I don't have a thumb drive that large...

Also, how long does the updating last? Do I have to keep my engine running etc?

For NBT only, you can use External HD, so long as it is Fat32 Formatted, and not exFat or NTFS and has only the map files on it.

Update is around 40 minutes. I would run motor to avoid battery drain / car shutting off.

Hi shawn, how can I update my 2014 F34. I'm pretty sure it's NBT. How do I check that? There's no combox in the boot and I think build date was July 2014.
The Nav is showing as:
Europa
BMW GROUP
101131.3.412
Road map Europe route
2014-1
RL_EntryNav_Nav_13503A

You will likely have original 2014-x NEXT or maybe 2015-x if previous owner updated it. The dealer will not have updated it as part of CPO process, so it will most likely not have the recently released latest 2016-1 version.
