Maybe shoot them an email and see if they are interested:

I spoke to the CSS guy last year. About $500 to close the deck on the N20. But you would still then have to recoat or Sleeve the cylinders because they will be out of round (unless it's a brand new block before it gets honed). Pressing in the CSS also distorts the cylinders a little.

So yup closing the deck would set you up for 700-800HP, but can everything else take it?

Main journals are integrated into the bed plate and only have single pairs of bolts, not dual like in EVO's running that power. I'd really worry about that along with many other things at that level.

I think the N20 built right with a mild head port will be reliable at 500HP crank (~415HP Wheels). That's my goal.

Yeah CSS recommends a 0.5-1.0mm overbore after pressing in the support. So you would need to order pistons in 0.5 or 1.0mm overbore and after the CSS treatment you could send the block to Millennium Technologies to get bored and then recoated. It would be a good idea to send the pistons/rings with so the could get the p2w and ring gap perfect.

So for a 2013 328i N26, what are the best tune options available to me?

- JB4 - $250-350 (used)
- Bootmod3 Flash Tune - $595 (new)
- Dinan Sport Tuner - ~$300 (new)

Looking to pull the trigger on one this month so just looking for user feedback

Thanks

If you have the money, go BM3 now.. If you're on a budget, then go with JB4. You will need a flash tune by the time you hit FBO to get the most power, so get it early if anything.

If you want OTS maps, AA is great for that. I went BM3 for the platform itself.

Nice! I'm curious, "safer" in terms of what exactly? How finely tuned you can get it VS only being able to use a handful of preset maps (jb4) ?

Thanks

It's not that it's safer. JB4 is perfectly safe, so long as you use the correct map and log when you first start running it. There have been people to use JB4 and brick their engine, mostly because they didn't have supporting mods. That's all!

That was just a hiccup. PTF was focusing on the OBDII release and forgot about his tune. All is well now!

Oh, that. Well, that setup wouldn't work. The problem is that PTF doesn't do custom tunes anymore. In my case, I was part of the time when they did custom tunes and got dialed in pretty high. In his case, he came in when they were switching to only doing OTS maps and offering custom ones through other tuners. He will have to go through a custom tuner more than likely to get 23psi.

Thanks and sorry for so many questions...

So what was the reason 23psi got pulled out of the air?
Assuming you go to PTF and say, i have x/y/z mods and they say, here is the OTS tune we have for your mods....and all good? Why would you then be like..."Thanks but give me more psi".
Like im guessing PTF is building these tunes, specific to the mods, for best power while still being reliable....so why push further than what they recommend?
