You're not going believe this....

This story is good.

I brought my car to the dealer today since I've noticed over a month or two now that my steering pulls to the right ALL the time, and especially when braking.

Two weeks ago I changed into my summer tires and rims and got an alignment I thought it would fix the issue. On top of that, the dealer noticed my front right strut leaking so they changed it all under warranty. This didn't stop the original issue.

Fast forward today, I told them I still have this issue. Got a loaner, left my car at 8am, got a call at 4pm saying my car is fixed. When I showed up, the SA tells me the master mechanic of the dealer did a test drive and determined the issue was due to "front discs being out of spec" thus causing instability issues. (20k miles on the odo)

They changed the ENTIRE front braking system, pads, rotors, everything under warranty.

I'm shocked that everything is fixed without question or issue and second, I NEVER expected my brakes to be the culprit.

I honestly think the out of spec brakes, broken strut, and bent rim is all caused by that 1 pothole I hit back in December...

That must have been one huge pothole.

There have been a lot of reports of right-pulling in our cars, I wonder how many are due to an actual mechanical issue vs. road crown.

I went to my dealership on several occasions concerning the right pull.
It never got fixed all the way.
It did however go away after getting rid of the stock RTFs

Good story. Nice to hear a dealership going the extra mile.

I mean, it's defective, it should be all covered under warranty.

That's why we pay so much!

It would make sense brakes would be responsible, as the issue was worst when braking

Wow. I brought my F10 in for that issue and 2 dealerships was told that it was the crown of the road causing it. Good to hear you were taken care of.

Yea man, BMW Laval. Great service, walk in, loaner, no issues, come back, car is fixed. I must say, I'm a little surprised, not use to that kind of service from other dealers.

I have yet to find a straight, level, and good quality road in this country to test if my car actually tracks straight... How long do you guys think the car should drive straight without needing a slight correction?

I have the same issue but not bad and didn't test much under breaking it was more so just letting go of the steering and letting the car drift on flat roads, my alignment showed my camber was a bit off on driver side front. Alignment guy suggested could be brakes too. Hmm its not bad enough that I really need to take it in though.

It's tough because all the highways are built with a crown and a grade such that the water drains to the side. I find my car tracks to the left or right on every road depending on which lane I'm in.

Ya but my issue was even regular streets that were straight, not just highway, instant sudden pull. Its not normal to almost crash into another car if you somehow let go of the steering....

They should have. You drive the car, let go of the wheel, apply the brakes. If it's a brake issue the wheel will turn in the direction of the bad brake, which is causing the drift due to excess drag. Too many mechanics rely on computers to identify a problem, when driving it is often the better way.

Agree, but even without braking it could do this. Anyway just happy didn't have to pay for brand new brakes!!

True, a dragging brake will cause the car to pull even when the brakes aren't applied, but so can a number of things, ranging from a bent frame to low air pressure in one tire. Following the procedure I outlined will quickly diagnose if the brake is likely the problem, or not.

Yeah, I was happy too. So far, the service has been great at my local dealer.
They don't seem stingy for fixing things.
