Hello All,

I’ve tried to search however it cannot find the answer I’m looking for.

I currently have 2012 F30 320d and it came with Factory HU_Entry 6.5 screen, base level with no Nav, just Bluetooth.

I’ve upgraded to a Android 10.25inch which is all working fine.

My current iDrive Controller





Want to Upgrade To this Nav iDrive Controller


It has the Nav and Media buttons and up and down movements. I’m not bothered about the newer iDrive Touch a controller. Note I do not use the BMW menus, I always use screen in Android all the time

Can I simply get a NAV iDrive Controller from say 2012 model and its plug and play? If not what else is required to make this work.

Pictures aren’t showing up here but the small iDrive dial controller should just plug in and work since 2012 controllers are KCAN1. A larger dial one wouldn’t without some extra wiring since it’s KCAN2 and I think from 2014 (but I may be wrong) the controllers switched over to that.

also up and down won't work because your head unit isn't designed for that particular movement. I have a 2016 F36 GC, that originally came with an NBT radio, non nav. and 6in screen and smaller controller, I personally upgraded both the screen to the 8 inch and the larger controller. up and down don't work, however on the screen it tries to, but really can't, hard to explain... you can still see the smaller controls. also upgraded to larger wheel with extra buttons...extra buttons work, except navigation...because car never had navigation before...see, smaller original screen

Thanks, so If I get iDrive control for Nav which is 2012 it will work? without any wiring?

As I just simply want the up and down function on the wheel and the extra Nav button. Thanks

Hello I'm sorry for asking on your post. But I want to upgrade to the Android screen as you have but I am not sure if my car can handle it. However when you mentioned your dial doesn't have the up/down feature I recognized that!

Can you just quickly look at my post and see if we have the same system? If so I should probably be able to upgrade mine as well! I also want the up/down button on the wheel.

I just did the upgrade you want to make, up and down does work but only in android, there is no need for coding, plug and play.

This picture is my idrive menu.
There is no navigation, no bluetooth, no usb. It has only AUX.
I want to upgrade it. But i don't know what system that i should buy. Is my system CIC? And is it 4 pin or 6 pin?

I think you have to open to be and check the cable if 4 or 6 pins.
