That's why I prefer the calm and considered approach of this forum. We are all panic selling cars, having heard that there is a shortage of new ones

No crisis. Storm in a tea cup it will pass*

Tesla Facebook groups are full of smug owners declaring what a choice and enjoying the 'drama'.

*my MashinBenzin Covid statement moment. I hope not!

Whereas I have two cars, barely a quarter of a tank between them and 300 miles to drive this weekend....

So if you see me filling up it's not panic buying, I will use it all by Monday....

Just when I think people can't get any more stupid, they manage it yet again!

Seems no one learnt anything from last year and the toilet roll/pasta/tinned goods shortages.

Going to Marshal at a race event this weekend, so obviously, a Critical Occupation.
Went to fill up and had to queue for 15 minutes for fuel. Half the pumps out of service....luckily all the Super Unleaded ones were working, so I was able to "jump the queue" 😀

Panic buying in Didcot today, with long queues out of each station.

Just back from Tesco's for a food shop (panic buying wine, but that's to do with it being the weekend and kids being home. Every Friday is panic wine day!)

Massive queues for fuel there. Obviously I just sailed past for a good EV parking spot and plugged in for some free electricity.

Interestingly the Shell that's <0.5 miles away, but is a good 4-5p/litre more expensive, was very quiet. So the panic buyers can't be that desperate!

Grant Shapps is "moving heaven and earth" to sort the problem out, apparently
I won't say any more about our esteemed Minister for Transport or anything about his equally talented and competent cabinet colleagues as I don't want to be responsible for this thread being deleted

They are obviously a bit wealthier in Hemel as the Shell station appears to be out of petrol but not diesel....

Daughter got £105 in her GLE as she was on fumes so at least we will have one car we can all use next week....

Apparently they are prioritising motorways so I will no doubt fill up with V Power on the motorway at about 1.70 a litre - will give me something to moan about anyway!

The people of this country really do seem to be a bunch of selfish cockwombles....

Fair point! I assume you'll be putting off your 300 mile drive until next weekend for similar reasons...

"Logistics groups and food industry bodies have pleaded with the government to create a temporary visa scheme – or add HGV drivers to its skills shortage jobs list – to allow EU workers to help fill the shortfall" - today in The Independent

This has been going on for months. Watch this space, the govt will do a U-turn here......

I don't know why this hasn't dawned on me before... All we need to do is agree on a product and subsequent manufacturer to buy shares in, we can then all go out and spread the news there is a shortage.
Send a picture of an empty shelf of the product with the label obviously to the BBC,sky, daily mail and sit back. We can just take all the product off one, take a photo and put it all back.

Just blame it on hauliers, brexit, covid etc bobs your uncle demand through the roof, share price up and we all cash in!

Mine pinged the low fuel warning as I drove to the dealer (BMW) this morning. Hope I can find some fuel later today when I go and get it.
