340 standard led headlamps opinion
I have a late 2018 340… std leds which are " just" ok on dipped beam with fogs also on. High beam is just hopeless. Yes I've adjusted the lights up a tad and yes I have coded the fogs to remain on with high beams as they do on European spec cars.
I know upgrade to adaptive is a non starter because of both cost and the dealer said it was beyond complex to do. What additional driving lamps have anyone fitted? Not looking to install an led light bar…(ugh). But interested in any and all mods or additional (tasteful) driving lamp installs anyone has done. Pics? This is my car; |

I don't think upgrading to Adaptives is that difficult tbh. Aside from sourcing the units with reasonable cost, that is. They use the same modules, the wiring is the same, all I think it needs is an update in the configuration of the vehicle to change the spec from normal to adaptive.

I too am curious about this. My original 340 had the adaptive lights and the 340 I have not does not. I am not at all happy with the standard LEDs.

For sure these are brighter than xenons when height is adjusted properly, but the beam pattern is quite narrow. I'm curious to see if adaptive headlights have a wider beam pattern. |

So pleased to see this thread, I've just purchased a 2017 335d with LED headlights with high beam assist and they are poor to say the least.
My old bi-xenon in my E46 blew these out of the water with light output/depth/cutoff/colour, these feel like I'm back using standard bullbs! I've also heard a few say they are more than happy with their adaptive LED so like biomed27 would love to see photo's showing light output/pattern/beam etc to see if it's worth the hassle/expensive of converting. |

I will note however my first BMW, a 2015 BMW 328 sport line had the Xeon headlights and I swear those blow these LED's out of the water. |

The adaptives should be plug and play. It will only require coding with esys. I've seen some sets for sale on eBay for about 1K, which is reasonable. I'm ready to make the upgrade but waiting to see if it's really worth it. Interested in seeing the adaptive beam pattern against the wall.
