I brought pins 5 and 6 back to FEM A173 * 8B 49 and 50 and magically the memory of the seat was recognized, as well as the driver's side heating.
Unfortunately the passenger heater does not want to know to go. with ISTA I checked that for a moment, after powering up the car, the passenger button clicked, emits the signal, but then dies and no longer goes.
I don't understand where the error is at this point. in ESYS you only see SM2

Hi, i have just bought F36 4 series gran coupe seats, I intend to retrofit these in my 2018 F20 LCI2. Will these be ok? I see F36 is not in your list. They are electric memory heated. Driver side has large white module, passenger seat has smaller black module (i believe small black module is for seat heating ECU).

Car has LIN bus as it came from factory with folding mirrors. Will I be able to retrofit these seats fully working? My friend has done this but says that both his front seats have the large white module, whereas on these F36 seats only driver side has the white box module.

Kind regards.

hi mate. ok great. original seats are manual.

I will try to condition and clean these new seats as best i can, because it looks a lot of work to transfer the leather.

Hi Guys
You seem to be the seat retrofit geniuses, maybe you can help me out

Just bought a pair of seats from a 3 series LCI (electric, heating, memory)
last vin digits (according to seller)
NT13106

want to install it into my 2012 f30 [pre LCI] (manual seats, folding mirrors)
last vin digits

J303855

I'm planing to install them and make them work

Any chance on a clear instruction on what to wire where on the car, which wire should go where,
Can this actually work without installing any extra modules in the car?

I just completed this retrofit successfully and got a driver missing LIN component error to begin with. It seems there are two flavours of this error:

1) if the missing LIN is on the passenger side i.e. without the big white seat module (which itself is only on the driver side for F30), your car probably didn't have heated seats to begin with and you probably had to add wiring to passenger side. Therefore there is likely a power/ground/LIN signal wiring issue preventing the small black passenger module from being recognised - tl;dr: check wiring.

2) The error I got was not the above; it was for the driver side, which since retrofitting the memory seats is no longer controlled by the LIN bus, but KCAN2. If you're getting this error you probably started out with manual heated seats. This was solved by VO coding in my case: I figured the old LIN control at the REM wasn't being overwritten when I VO-coded 459 (electric/memory) only. Therefore, after VO-coding 459 to all relevant ECUs, I uncoded 494 (heated seats) from REM and coded it back again. And no more error!

tl;dr: VO code 459 to all ECUs, uncode 494 from REM and code it back,

Hope this helps all of you - this seems to be an issue that's not been widely solved on various forums, and indeed was the cause of much anxiety for me. But the fix was simple (for me at least)

As a clarification, for error (2), what I mean is I already had the VO code of 494 (heated seats) for my manual heated seats.

When I then VO coded the car with 459 after installing electric seats, it seems like this didn't stop the REM searching for the old LINbus module on the driver side.

Solution as above; VO code 459 (electric memory) to all ECUs -> remove 494 from VO (but keep 459) and code REM only -> add 494 to VO and code REM again. Solved error for me

Hi Guys
Maybe you could point me in the right direction

Looking into buying Driversside seat from a 3 series pre-LCI (electric, heating, memory, sportseat) 03/2013 F30
last vin digits F571430

want to install it into my 10/2015 f31 [LCI] (manual, heated, lumbar support, side bolster adjustment, sportseats, folding mirrors)
last vin digits F571430. Seat has white module 61359280913 underneath

I'm hoping to only swap the drivers side seat in order to have the memory function!

Any chance on a clear instruction on what to wire where on the car, which wire should go where,
Can this actually work with the MY2013 module underneath the seat?
Thanks in advance.

Hi I've been following this guide and hit a wall, really need help...
Original seats just had electric lumber,
Swaped for just the extra heated feature Inc electric lumber, new seats just have two small modules the same for both seat, we presumed not having memory for full electric that both run off lin? And the driverside would not need to be can ans have no memory feature ect.
We wired up as per instruction for passengers side and reapeated driverside.,
Code all VO, on testing the driver side buuton on the ac turns on both seats! But then lights go off pretty much straight away and nothing working, if we disconnected the passenger side power the driver side works fine, reconnect and both do not work, diss connect driver side power neither work? I'm lost please help?
