Just noticed the Harman Kardon retrofit on Pasco's site. Hmm, I wonder how hard would it be to install.

they say 6 speakers, but doesn't the HK system have 16?

apart from looks (door trim) I don't know how effective of an upgrade this will be, but for the price, its worth a try?

Err, the factory HK system has 16 speakers in total, so that's 7 more than your 9 speak hi-fi system found in stock 328i.

Also does it offer an upgraded woofer because the HK subs are about twice the power of the Hi-Fi ones. These might be better quality speakers to replace existing ones but I don't think you're adding more.

Yep, they ship internationally, pretty quick as well based on previous purchases. They claim its plug and play but would prefer a pro to install it.

Yep for under $500 that's worth a shot but only includes the front 6 speakers. Might not be as effective as the full 16 kit but would be a nice upgrade over the stock speakers in terms of aesthetics and audiophile quality.

is it possible to do a complete upgrade?! I'm was looking into this but thought it would be a monstrous task considering we have stock 9 speakers...

Is it just a speaker upgrade? If so you're missing out on the better amp and logic system.

If it's the full kit caboodle and schebang then go for it, I love listening to my favourite music on the HK system.

So just a few replacement speakers in the easy to access doors.
Not really worth the bother.

I doubt it as the wiring loom won't have been installed in the 9 speaker car.

On the plus side, thanks for the link, I just also found something else that I was looking for.

The RHD foot rest to compliment the other two pedals, that after I paid for the set, BMW told me a RHD foot rest wasn't going to be made available after all, so I have gone without the past 1.5 years.

Low and behold.... the identical set (and for a fraction of the AUS price)

Yep got the same piece, couldn't wait for BMW Aus to release it for inflated prices. Fraction of the price for a Genuine piece from Pasco. Delivery is fast too, Within 5 days.

Cool i likey the foot pedals. Do they actually feel better or is it pure aesthetics.

I gotta admit that the stock pedals are pretty ugly.

Purely Aesthetics but gives it a sportier image. Should be standard, even the GTI had it as standard.

I believe pure aesthetics, but does look hot and the look will almost be complete now

Have you considered the Bavsound upgrade for the stock system? If the HK upgrade you're looking at just has the front speaker sets without any amps or processing then changing to the Bavsound speakers would presumably sound better.

Mate,

Consider the Focal integration series if you have the HiFi, they are plug and play.

Fronts - 4" and Tweeter
Rear - 2way 4"

Centre - either speaker would be fine (except for tweeter obviously)

They sound better and more alive. The only problem is you a still missing out on decent mid i.e. you won't get the punchy bass as the sub will only really give you lower frequencies that don't involve that punchy bass.

I have the basic speakers on my f30, all I did is add up a 1000 watt amp kicker and sub box, works great. It beats the upgrade by far

I installed a JL audio amp which runs all my speakers as well as a JL 12inch sub. Made a huge difference over stock. Let us know how you go knightsaber I was thinking of getting the BSW interior speakers as well.
