I've ordered mine from getbmwparts.com, it's on the way. It was less than half the price that BMW NZ quoted. My dealer in Auckland is happy to install for me, hopefully I'll have it next week sometime, installed the following week.

Thats awesome. How much did they charge you for fitment, and if i could ask how much was the shipping?

I'm thinking of getting some items shipped, can anyone suggest like the best cost effective method? Ta

They reckon about NZD$300, it's not fitted yet.

You have a pretty good dealer. Can't imagine any of the dealers here doing it without supplying the part themselves.

Yeah, they tried to do a deal. But BMW NZ want $2395 plus install. My dealer got a better price and discounted it but was still miles away from the USD$885 I paid. They encouraged me, and even mentioned the fact the dollar is so high that I should go for it.

I'd always rather support my local dealer, but when the item is 100% more locally I can't justify buying locally. It's really strange as all the other M Performance stuff in NZ is very competitively priced. I thought the PPK price was a mistake to start with.

I got used to outrageous prices from dealers a long time ago. Unfortunately this is probably the one piece of kit that you absolutely have to go through a dealer, at least for the install.

Lets see what they say. $1500- $2000 installed would be pretty acceptable to me. Jono's approach would be even better if you can find a dealer to go for it. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess

I just posted in another part of the forum, but thought I would add this specifically on the Oz board. Just got my quote back for F30 PPK from my dealer in Melbourne. $3357 supplied and installed! I need a new DME but that is still crazy...

JonoNZ - I looked at GetBMWParts ($935+$100 for new DME) but I need a US shipping address. Did you use something like BongoUS to get it shipped to you?

New Zealand Post operate a service called YouShop. So NZ residents can get a US Address, similar to Bongo - but much more professional and easier. I have used Bongo in the past. The Bongo website sucks and they ask for all kinds of weird ID. The New Zealand Post service does not.

$3357 is pretty steep! Mine was USD$887 with free shipping to the US. Use the code THAW50 and you'll get an extra USD$50 off at getBMWparts. My car is a mid-Dec 2012 build so I don't need a new DME.

Mine is due for delivery to my work place tomorrow, I'll contact my dealer to see if I can get it installed early next week.

It's not much better here in NZ either.

Having said that, all the other M Performance parts I've purchased have stacked up pretty well in terms of pricing.

The pricing for the 335 PPK was so high in NZ I assumed they'd got it wrong. Unfortunately the pricing seems intentional.

PPK arrived today, dealer is set to install on Monday morning. Parts from getBWparts.com look complete, including the special red envelope! Part number is identical to what is stated on the BMW ETK for my car.

Will update with impressions when installed.

Great stuff, let us know how it goes.
Do you know the approx weight and dimensions of the package? Also what else is in the red envelope, is it just paperwork/codes etc or is there a software disc or usb stick.
I think i'll order it this way as well, just need to find a dealer who will be happy just to do the install.

Yeah the box is ginormous:

Parcel weight 7kg
Parcel dimensions 66cm x 67cm x 43cm

I haven't opened the envelope, it's sealed with a hologram on it. But it is just papers with an activation code I think, no media.

Your car needs to be updated with ISTA/P 2.49.1 or greater for the activation code to be used. Allow for this in your dealer install time.

I am pretty new to it, but I get the impression that DME is basically the BMW name for the engine management system/ECU.

See here:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...ectronics.html

From reading on the US forums it seems that if your F30 is built before about November 2012 you actually need a new DME when you get the PPK. If it is more recent they only recode your existing one.

All installed, unfortunately it's been a very wet and stormy day here in Auckland so few opportunities to try the PPK out. However, even on a sedate drive back from the dealer it is very noticeable in Comfort mode, and also Sport mode. Very happy!

No noticeable change to steering feel at all -- my car is a recent production week (201250) so already had pretty recent software and the new rack (and VSS).

Install cost was NZD$303 all up at my BMW dealer. The parts I imported from GetBMWParts.com for USD$885 plus shipping to NZ.
