Catless DP legal in VA? Will I get blackflagged at State Inspection
Hi all,
Considering a JB4/ER-DP/BMS intake upgrade for my brand new 340i xdrive, and I have a couple of questions: 1) Has anyone done this in VA with either a 335 or 340 and gone through the VA annual state inspection process? The DP seems like something that is too difficult to install/uninstall/reinstall each year.... 2) I know that ER makes a catless DP, but does anyone make a catted DP for the 340i xdrive? Thought I had seen it somewhere but couldn't find a link today nor see it on ERs website. Thanks! Mark

Definitely not allowed to be catless. Even a aftermarket catted downpipe most likely won't avoid a CEL (and won't set readiness needed for inspection) unfortunately BMW has it set very tight. You could use a simulator once a year and have JB4 suppress the CEL with autoclear. That way you can run catless and pass inspection.
