The DPF still does regens because I can smell them and I keep an eye on soot/ash levels with Carly. Everything appears to be normal. Other engine monitoring and control remains unaffected i.e. EGTs and limo modes. I've never had any engine warning lights.

The car goes on track a few times each year and nothing has melted.

If an EGR delete was so dangerous I think we'd be hearing reports of horror stories on forums like this.

Remaps do need to be done by reputable companies, but if they are fully aware of modern engines and control systems the remains are safe.
That's exactly what it comes down to, your remap and EGR delete were done by a company that knows what it's doing. DMS, BW Chiptune, Emaps, .. they are some of the few I would trust with a car of my own.

You really must do your research before going for a remap and/or EGR delete.
I was talking with Simon at Emaps and he is against an Egr delete.

I would add evolve to your list though

I have heard only the best for him.

But I think I am going the evolve route because I am tempered by their remote remap. I like the idea that I can take the map off when needed and do everything myself

A true tuner that knows the exact process of the EGR, would not agree with the EGR system. ( I guess most tuners would not admit that as this would be then promoting an emissions violations.)

EGR is there for one and only reason. To recycle the fumes and this effectively reduces emissions by reusing gases, but stuffs the DPF that needs continuous regens.

I have done hugh lengths of mileage testing and data logging EGR systems on VAG,BMW, etc to see how they work in real time, how they interact with DPF and so on.

Without going too deeply into it, my car runs EGR free.

Oil is spotless, manifold is like new with zero build up and DPF regens are increased to 400/500 miles per regen as opposite to 250/300 with EGR operational. Why is that, less soot from the recycled fumes but more fresh air.
Overall better consumption and less heat in the engine ancillaries.
