Tail Light Connector Plug Part #

Hi. Does anyone know the part number for the 6-pin tail light housing connector plug for the driver side? My ground pin burned out and I'm trying to replace it. Here's an image below.

I spoke with ecs to confirm if this part fits f30 328i they said it’s only listed as compatible with f20, do you know if this is accurate or if this part is actually compatible? Thanks in advance

That is the correct part number for the replacement socket housing. Upon searching the part number compatibility it may only show one vehicle, however these socket housing repair kits are found when looking up the tail lights specifically.

How do you install this?

I just picked up this part from ECS because my ground also burnt out. Looking at the ECS part and a bit confused how to assemble it. Any help is appreciated.

Just wondering, did you install it ? And if yes, did it burnt again ?

Make sure you are inspecting the connection point on the bulb carrier. If the socket housing connector is burnt then your bulb carrier will have damage as well.

There's an alternative method of fixing the ground connection, a search should find it.

Had this happen to me for the second time, Right side was fixed by the dealer under warranty, the left side as a quick fix I put a jumper in for the ground.
I also have just bought the replacement bulb socket and the repair kit for the plug, sunny sunday install later.

For the ground jumper, drilled a small hole through the bulb socket, fed a wire into it, located the common ground and soldered the wire to it, used a wire splicer to marry the grounds together. Works great and better connection then the small pin that had melted away.

It appears the ground overheats due to vibrations or a poor connection and therefore arcs and melts. The real pisser is that you cannot extract the remains of the pin from the plug.

The page has the repair kits but I'm pretty sure the tail light connector on my car is 6 pin...

Cheap stuff is cheaper (and faster) from Dealer than ECS after you pay for shipping.

I have the same problem and was about to order the repair kit and bulb holder, but then I saw a pigtail plug with wires that could just be soldered or spliced. Is this a legitimate way to fix the problem, or should I go with the repair kit?
Here’s a link to the pigtail:

Use the method in Post #10. The connector pin is too small to handle the current, so it will burn out again unless you change to all LED bulbs, which reduces the current.
