Wagon: Rear Hatch Opening Issue

My 2016 F31 wagon rear hatch normally should open using the key fob, inside button or by putting my foot under the hatch. It does it only about one third the time. Closing isn't a problem.
There is a noise like it is unlocking but no movement. Again, it does work normally some of the time. I wonder if the 2 lift devices on the sides of the hatch can be adjusted.
Is there a way for me to fix this issue?

If it's still under warranty, I'd bring it in to the dealer. Does it make a grinding noise when it does open?

Take it in. Mine did something similar but during extreme cold when the hydraulic stuff froze. Long story short all the mechanics back there ain't cheap.

Have you checked to see if the glass hatch is securely closed? I’ve had this happen before only to find out I hadn’t closed the glass securely enough

Thanks for the replies. I tried 2 suggestions on another forum:
1. Rub silicone on the rubber seal
2. Adjust how far the hatch opens to its maximum height.
Tested it this morning and so far this works.

The suggestions worked for a week or 2, but then the same issue came back. Any other ideas to try?

I don't think you answered the question about reseating the glass part of the hatch.

I'd open it and clean that area, and close firmly. Would take just a few minutes and it's free.

The dealer suggested I replace the 2 lifters,(look like struts), that open the rear hatch. They couldn't find any code faults. They didn't know if that would work and wanted $1,600 to replace both. I checked and both parts are available online for about $500 but install requires quite a bit of labor. I decided it wasn't worth it and passed.

After years of having the hatch failing to open normally on my F31, it magically seems to be working normally now the last few months. I gave up on fixing this problem and I expect it to have the issue again... but, I'll enjoy it working now.

Most likely whatever grit/contamination etc was the issue is now finally gone and it will never happen again for the life of the car. finder coursed but that kind of oddball stuff happens.
