I just dropped the light strip into the recess, it holds on it's own once bent but I knew as soon as summer arrived things would begin to start flexing so I stuck some butyl in spots to make sure it didn't shift.

Something like that will work yeah, it will need to be the real thin transfer stuff though not foam backed, otherwise it'll squash and damage the strip. I originally used butyl to hold it in place, that way I could stretch it nice and thin but you'll need to clean it off the white diffuser part if you get any on it so I'd probably just recommend double sided tape.

Hello, I have now also retrofitted the large ambience set. Unfortunately, the color change does not work with the I-Drive control, even though 9 colors are visible on the display. There is no color change. It doesn't respond, despite the existing coding. Maybe someone has an idea what else needs to be coded in the F30 nbt Evo (Nbt 2 and Fem)? The ambience control unit was connected via Can Low 2 Can High 2. I have already coded the following, without success. HU_NBT2
COLOUR_SWITCH — > active
BRIGHTNESS_AMBILIGHT — > active

((( COLOUR_SWITCH_ENSEMBLE —> 10 entries )))
And: The color must be changed from standard to light
Apparently 11 entries don't work and the function disappears again in the I drive

FEM
CS_TYPE
two colors
PIA_DEFAULT_CD Change to color_2
MAPPING_LCI_7_FUNCTION Change to cs_2. thanks in advance

Lightbulb

I installed this kit with Tuimasika a some while ago on my i3 and faced some small challenges with the updated (current I guess) box version without any physical DIP switches on it as the previous model has for the initial setup... Without any actual installation guide and all the markings in Chinese only we were a bit lost! So I hope that this could help, if anyone running into the same issues!

We found some manual and a control application by using an AI translator and searching the internet but later we realized that it was the wrong app, just looked very similar as the correct one.

I contacted the seller and fortunately they were really helpful!

They guided me to get the correct app (not admitted by Apple/Google so I used my back-up phone just in case):
http://qrtransfer.com/ZhongYa.html

And the page with the programming table and also some guides:
https://h5.clewm.net/?url=qr71.cn%2FocDEKM%2Fq3O6XnM

So after you have found and connected the Bluetooth device, just pick the correct settings from the table (BMW is the 4th/purple section and for i3 the second row worked if I remember right), go to Settings->Factory Settings menu, give the password 1689, switch the correct dips based on the table and you should be ready to start commanding the lights with the app. Once the initial setup is done, you should be able to program it for the iDrive as well and forget the bulky and a bit suspicious app forever (as Tuimasika did with his older box version: https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s....php?t=2056458). Good luck!

My light project is still "work in progress", for example door lights are missing. However, here some photos of the current situation on the front (the blue light comes from the roof bulbs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079KYS84G) :

Looks really nice! I also have the blue / orange Benzinfabrik LEDs so redoing the whole thing prob isn’t worth it for me now.

But, I’ve always wanted an led strip running across the dash (following under the wood trim) like in your kit. I wish there was a solution for just buying that strip!

You could probably rig something using another Benzinfabrik LED module and an OEM clear light diffuser tube (for the front door) to light up beneath the dash panel. I'm not sure if the light diffuser will be long enough though but a 5 series light diffuser tube may work just have to verify longer tubes are available. You'd just have to split the wiring going to the AC trim to provide power.
