E30 M3 is legendary. Never driven one but I never get tired of looking at those 80s box flares, circular headlights, and properly sized BMW grilles. Perfection mayn.

Perhaps not the M2C.
Having driven a wide variety of M cars, I have to disagree. The F80 is the most capable of the bunch and when pushed to the limit absolutely shines. The E92 is great too, but I think every generation of M3 has improved upon the last in leaps and bounds. Yes, those old ones still have something special in them that are unique to them that we all love, but there is no M car I would call a snooze fest. The G30 M5 Competition is an absolute beast and it will keep you awake if you know how to bring it to the limit. I have not driven the M2C yet, and while it is very close, it is not yet the pinnacle of the M2 platform's potential. With a de-tuned S55 and weighing about the same as the F80, the short wheelbase dynamics don't quite beat the F80 into submission. The M2 CS will be the true contender.

If all M cars after the E92 and E60 snooze fests. What does that say about the F30 335i and 340i that the F8X is built off of? Are they coma parties?

For some reason the G30 5 series version of the M5 is designated the F90. I have no idea why.

As an owner of a tuned f30 335 I can say it's far less exciting than the e90 I came from. They're all good cars but I used to get excited about new engines coming out but now it's boring. Same turbo motors just refresher every generation.

You are right my mistake. G30 is the 5 series. So weird they kept the "F"

I would probably go with e46 M3, I drove my friends version of this car in black with cinnamon leather, it was amazing. Such an amazing engine and classic design.

I will give honorable mention to the current F90 M5, which is a beast and the ability to set the AWD to rear wheel drive is killer - a feature I would like to see in the upcoming M3/M4

E90 and F80 M3. There's something special about how they go crazy with the hips on the 4-door models

E30 is a close third just on principle.
