ActiveHybrid 3 - Any owners?
Hi guys,
Just wondering if there were any ActiveHybrid owners in here? Doesn't seem to be too many available in Aus. Do you guys think I would be dumb to purchase one and plan to keep it for the long run? |

I think they look good on paper, I'm a fan of hybrid drivetrains - fuel efficiency / quietness / torquey but have yet to drive a hybrid BMW. Can't see any issues with owning it for the long run.

Thanks Stu - what do you think about the hybrid battery life? Will it cost a bomb to replace (even though BMW said the battery should last the life of the vehicle)

The only slightly negative thing I recall was that the car felt noticeably heavier than my petrol driven 335 and did not point into corners as well. That is, it did not seem as nibble as my car. Having said that, I would not mind one of these in my garage, especially as the majority of my driving at the moment is town and urban. I'm sure BMW would not put a hybrid on the market if it thought the batteries would need replacing in a few years.

Too early to tell.. I always thought a hybrid battery would need replacing at some point so interesting that BMW is claiming it'll lat for life. Using a Hybrid Camry as a comparison Toyota warrants this for 8 years / 160k km so hopefully the BMW will last longer than that.
