BMW LIVE

BMW Live offers via the customer telephone an infotainment service for customers without a permanently installed SIM card (telematics unit) or in markets with no telematics ranges. The optional equipment BMW Live (option 6AL) is available for vehicles with telephony without telematics (option 6NH and 6NK) in conjunction with the headunits Professional radio (option 663), Business navigation (option 606) or Professional navigation (option 609).

The screen display is based on the BMW Online interface. The basic services provided by BMW Live are:

News via RSS feeds
Weather
Google local search
Panoramio
Street View.

The service is communicated via the customer's SIM card. A cellular radio agreement with data transfer is required to be able to use the service. The customer must register with an e-mail address to be able to use all the functions of the BMW Live service. Some of the functions can also be used without registration.

Yes, but hufman said that 2012 cars (such as mine) will accept only iphone apps, wich is as I understand required to run AAIdrive.

I saw that. I am not sure what he is referring to. As far as I know, all NBT can have Apps on Android. He is the AAiDirve Developer, though, so he knows best.

You can try it, and then always remove it VO Code car again if you do not get desired reult.

But car with 6NL (Telematics) should have BMW Online instead of BMW LIVE:

Yes, I have 0616 BMW Online, but I realy can't access it, nothing about weather or any news feed or something similar, altough I enabled bluetooth internet tethering and tried with USB connected to phone. Shame, would love to see somethin' on that old system that wolud be somewhat interactive ;P BMW Online replaced Live at some point?

BMW Online requires a ConnectedDrive Telematic Subscription with BMW Online from BMW AG.

No, one did not replace the other. They are essentially the same thing, one for car's with Telematics, and one for car's without Telematics, using Mobile Phone SIM instead of Car SIM.

And don't lose sleep over, they are both pretty useless.

As far as I know, iDrive 4 only supports BMW Apps from iPhone, and iDrive 4++ is when they added Android USB support. I haven't been able to find clear answers, but I thought that is the difference between CIC and NBT (which do have very similar themes), and NBT only started rolling out in 2014 or so. I wasn't able to get any connection with a 2013 X3, for example.
Perhaps I'm just confused about the overlapping iDrive generations and factory coded features It sounds like it is free and quick to try, in any case.

He can check BMW LIVE for free, but for Apps, he still needs 9C FSC Code and 6NR Coding if he lacks 6AK ConnectedDrive Service, plus AAiDrive.

I think I did this on mine with AAI also running. hufman has tried helping me via GitHub, as I only get successful apps connection 1 in 10 via usb.

2016 NBT (440i) and android (S24). Super frustrating because when AAI works it's brilliant, but something seems to kill the connection (connected app & aai both running)
