Xdrive tire sizing question
So I'm picking up a set of OEM 437m wheels tomorrow and I have a question about tire sizes. Both options are within 1% of each other (front to rear) in overall diameter. What I want to know is does it matter how much taller the tires are then the stock ones. The sizes are listed below so let me know your thoughts. Both options have the same front which is 0.4" taller then the original tire. Option 1 is 0.3" taller and option 2 is 0.6" taller then the original rear. Will that be a problem or is the only controlling factor the front to rear ratio that needs to be within 1%? Which both of these options are.
Current: Staggered 18" style 398 Orbit Grey wheels Front 18 x 8 with 225/45/18 Rear 18 x 8.5 with 255/40/18 Option 1: OEM 437m whels Front 19 x 9 with 235/40/19 Rear 19 x 10 with 265/35/19 This option is -0.4% Option 2: OEM 437m whels Front 19 x 9 with 235/40/19 Rear 19 x 10 with 275/35/19 This option is +0.8% Thanks Last edited by DS8_photo; 05-22-2020 at 09:48 AM.. |

option 2 is 0.8% front/rear diameter difference, fine for x-drive. a little more forward rake than option 1 but not much. a lil more understeer due to 40mm front/rear width stagger, but you may not notice or care.
personally, i like option 1. gaps are even, 30mm front/rear width stagger. more balanced appearance. few have said you need to remain near the oem diameter of 26", however i've seen members run 0.8" over without issue. imo the 1% front/rear diameter difference is all that matters. |

F30 x-drive, stock height,with 235/40-265/35 on OEM 437M.
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=181 Best 437M thread. Many with x-drives. Read please read, if you have time. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1020367 option 3: 245/35-285/30, 0.4%, increased gap due to slightly smaller diameters, better if lowered. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=291 option 4: 255/35-265/35, 1%, reduced understeer https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=265 Last edited by alohasurftoad; 05-22-2020 at 10:22 AM.. |

recently purchased the 437M wheels for my 2014 BMW 328i XDrive .
The wheels came directly off an M4 with the OEM Specs 255/35/19 19x9 ET 29 275/35/19. 19x10. ET 40 I understand this will not work with the XDrive system so I decided to square the set and bought 2 more 255/35/19 to match the front My question is, Am I safe with this set up? Not sure how much my offset has changed with moving down the rear size from 275/35/19 down to 255/35/19 . I've noticed my EPS seems to be heavy one second then lighter the next. Is this incompatible with the F30 X-Drive? Notes- Stock suspension Not lowered Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! |

The only issue I see is your rear tire will look stretched on a 10" wheel compared to the front. Other then appearance I don't see any issues with your setup. |
