Aaah thanks for that insight! I would definitely go for the Unique-AD solution in that case. I'm curious to see though who will be the first one to bring full screen CarPlay on the 8.8" screen. The day it becomes available for Unique's unit I will buy it immediately.

You can now pre-order the fullscreen Carplay box from Unique AD... I just did! They ship April 7.

SOS Malfunction after UniChip Installation
The SOS Malfunction light on after UniChip Installation on my 2009 E90 M3.
Sounds on Radio and DVD works, but Apple Carplay does not have any sound (I did not connect the aux jack, not sure if this is the problem) I understand some use the fiber optic bypass jumper on the satellite system, but I hope to understand if anyone has the same issue (and how to resolve) before moving forward to the bypass jumper route. Any comment would be greatly appreciated! |

( found here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1275325 ) About the sos malfunction, are you sure you reconnected everything? I don't know how it works on the e90 but on the f30 for example, the sos system uses another speaker, used only for the sos system which is located near driver footwell. I forgot to reconnect that speaker and my f30 alerted sos malfunction, reconnecting it and unplug and plug the battery fixed it. |

Yeah. And their first shipping dates have already slipped 8 days since I preordered it. 👎🏻

Yeah they slipped it of a week or so also in february, when I bought mine. Consider that they need to wait for the chinese supplier so if he's late, they're late

Exciting stuff! It looks really good in the video, exactly what I was hoping for. I was in contact with them about a final compatibility check and I understood dispatch will start after the 12th for the first orders on the list. So let's see if we have someone here with an initial review next week.

If you want quicky reply, they have a chat service on their website. They're often offline, but if you find them online they always reply in few seconds!

Evening all,
I contacted Unichip last week because I was getting a few random CarPlay disconnects - fwiw I find their support excellent, they always respond within 12 hours which is great considering time difference. The cause of my problem was most likely lint in the lightening port of my iPhone (a toothpick pulled out wads of it). However, whilst investigating this, Unichip provided me with a firmware and software update, which if you don't already have, I would highly recommend!!! I've always found the brightness of CarPlay to be just a little too bright which can sometimes make it difficult to see side/minor roads when navigating. The latest software update now includes a brightness menu option which makes the clarity of the display just perfect (I like level 3). I've included some photos to try and show the difference (it's even better with the naked eye). You'll know if you have the newer firmware because the "connect device" screen includes both the CarPlay and Android auto icons (the earlier firmware only includes CarPlay). If, like me you prefer a darker screen I'd suggest dropping support a message for the new files. Updating was a doddle - just copy to USB following their instructions and plug it into the box. |
