Its impossible to pass NYS emissions testing with a catless downpipe. The vehicle must be hooked up and communicating with Albany to pass.
Even if you get a bootleg sticker... How do you expect to get your vehicle registered next year when Albany has no record of you passing emissions? Not. Happening. |

They are talking about catless DP, so you would not get the 'ready' without a workaround. I thought maybe 6 months ago someone said they were able to get cat monitor 'ready' by using a angled O2 spacer with mini cat and driving gently for the cycle. Forgot which thread it was in.

No idea what this is supposed to mean, but you should never put a angled O2 spacer or mini cat or anything on the primary O2 sensor. Not only is it not used for emissions monitors but it will throw off AFRs and fuel trims, and is potentially dangerous.

In NY, I believe you get a max of 1 monitor "not ready", but not failed with a CEL. The tune can keep the CEL from coming on, but it won't set the monitor to ready. That part is explicitly illegal in all states. As long as you have no more than 1 monitor in the not ready state, and no CEL you should be able to pass. This is the same in MA.
