At least being self employed you will be able to fudge your weekly income... Question - if it was a choice between a 2 week ban and 6 points, which would you take? Totting up bans tend to be for 6 months minimum so 3 years with 6 points on your licence from day 1 could get stressful. I ask this as I have a friend in a similar situation - hasnt had the NIP yet but is expecting 70 in a 40 (VSL on M3 at 1 am for roadworks in about a mile that she was turning off before...) |

That's what happens when you release the beast unfortunately. Good luck.

RE: Fudging income, not sure how to go about that. I will definitely be only reporting what I take out of the business for me and certainly not my day rate! I'm not sure I'd like to push it much further than that

I'm curious which would cause the biggest increase of insurance premium, 6 points on the licence or a short 2 week ban instead of the points. |

I'd suggest 89 in a 60 (assuming the 60 is a national speed limit single carriageway out of town) could be a lot less dangerous than 44 in a 30, and of course you have never done that either.... |

yes I'm guilty as charged but I really did just give it a quick burst on a very clear road, but I'm not looking to make any excuses. may the Lord give you mercy, heaven forbid you should make a mistake or stray from the rules

Not meant to come across that way TBH...we've all broken speed limit rules so was just commenting on it's a daft speed. I knew my reply would spark this type of reaction though |

My speeding misdemeanours include 42 in a 30, 61 in a 50 (VSL on M1 - it was different to all the limits before and after!), 99 on a 70, 99.9 on a 70 (yes it was quite alot more but it was a copper with common sense not a camera..). Some were mistakes, some were taking a chance and getting caught. But I used to drive 25k plus miles a year, I have probably done 750k since I passed my test - shit happens and I would never say I have never deliberately or accidentally been a bit naughty... But knowing your weaknesses comes as you get older |

Serious Q, is there a line to be crossed such us under x speed is one charge and over x speed is another? I thought it was more of a discretionary thing.

89 in a 60 puts me just under class C. I believe they do have the right to increase or decrease the penalty as they see fit, but I believe this is only in extreme cases.
