Not surprised judging by how many complaints and returns they had.
It said in the article "people didn't like their business model". I would argue people didn't like being sold cars with multiple faults and little regard for sorting them out. All info from reading hundreds of reviews of theirs. |

The prices they were offering for cars was ridiculously high
Traded the wife's T-Cross last month and the dealer gave strong money. Cazoo were offering another 10% on top. The only issue I have is their nearest drop off was 200+ miles away (no presence in Scotland for drop off) and I wasn't taking the risk of driving there to find their offer mysteriously revised. |

The business was operating on s low single figure gross margin which needed a high volume of transactions to make it pay. Once they started to tail off, it was only a matter of time before it failed.

Yet another example of a business whose main pitch appears to have been 'lend us lots of money whilst we lose a fortune because we are going to be huge someday and transform the world'.
Their pivot seems to be going from “we have a good idea and are going to exploit it” to “we are going to try and muscle in and exploit somebody else’s good idea”. That seems morally as well as financially bankrupt. |

I certainly wouldn't used them as an online market place. We use AT and its excellent, fucking expensive but excellent.
Cazoo can wither and die for all I care. Value in the brand, yeah right. There's always someone knocking on my door saying advertise your stock on our new market place for £1500 plus vat a month, to generate 3 leads...never worth it. |

We looked at buying a car from them a couple of years ago when my wife was changing hers.
Wanted 100% payment there and then (unless you were taking finance), with the car to be delivered/collected 'in 14 to 21 days'. I said that wasn't acceptable, but I'd pay 10% now and the rest on collection. They refused, as their collection points didn't have the facility to take payments ! |
