I only know you can see the traffic details on the left side menu section, but not popup notification.
Yes! it will pop up a warning message. I've been using it for a little over three weeks on two cars and I've seen two notifications, one was effectively a car broken down and the other was a cop trying to catch speeders! lol (nice addition to my V1
Not sure if I had a destination of if it just happen to be on my way.

You'd know if you have traffic lines. Green yellow red. Its only $50/yr. I subscribed. So worth it.

How do you preset hot keys to addresses?

Input an address in your Navi, and then long press one of the radio buttons until it gongs.

The real time traffic is the only one I bothered to extend after the initial 3 year subscription ran out. Now's the time to buy, while it's on sale.

Hot keys store whatever is on the iDrive screen when you push them. It's not like the usual radio pre-sets. You can store those too, but only if you bring up the radio on the iDrive screen.

The RTTI on my 2017 X5 NBT Evo works great, but Waze is superior in many ways. Without Carplay, I agree, it's a pain to use, but if you have Carplay, you should definitely be using Google Maps or Waze.

Waze seems to have much more accurate traffic information like real time speeds. I'd rather be going through a 10mph red zone than a stop and go 5mph zone. Waze also has a speed trap warnin.

What's the difference between hot keys vs radio pre sets?

A radio pre-set button will only store radio stations. We don't have those, although the hot keys look like the same thing.

My 2017, per the manual, will store more than radio stations.

I have RTT enabled until 2021, neat feature. I do miss waze on the main screen a little but it runs better on the phone. BMW doesn't recognize my last 7 of the vin for any update, too. But I think I have a little bit of a unicorn.

The buttons can be used for radio stations or a variety of things. As explained in the previous posts.

Waze people: I know. I'm 25. I understand Waze is awesome and free - but its annoying to take my phone out every morning and plug in the address.

Tldr: try out RTTI it you've been thinking about it
Don't you have to plug in the address in your nav? You know that Waze has the ability to save frequent destinations? And generally predicts the location you are typing in after just a few keystrokes? Especially if you've been there before?
this and you get cop locations when they are tag or road kill or junk on the road. waze has saved me a lot of money.

I'm hoping somebody here knows the answer to this. I have a 2016 F30 340i, with which I got 3 years of Advanced RTTI included and I extended it for another year. The ARTTI subscription expired 2 weeks ago and I am yet to renew it. That said, should I still be able get standard RTTI or any form of TI at all on my Nav without paying a subscription fee?

My subscription expired, and now I get no traffic data at all.

There is no 'standard' RTTI or any form of TI other than ARTTI.

This is not true. Threre are at least 2 levels of traffic services available in the US. One is a subscription from BMW (I believe that is ARTTI). My 2015 CPO had that for a few weeks before it ran out. Then there is FM radio based traffic information. I coded this on after my ARTTI ran out and I get free traffic information over FM radio for major routes in my area. It is not as good as ARTTI, but I still find it useful.

On my 2015, I was able to code on TI after ARTTI expired. I kept the following notes:
CAFD coded Real Time Traffic Information to HU_NBT:
TI_TMC = aktiv
TI_CA_TMC = aktiv
TI_TPEG = nicht_aktiv
TI_CA_TPEG = nicht_aktiv
TI_TMC_REGIONAL = aktiv

Is the traffic information broadcast via FM automatically displayed on the Nav screen? Or does it simply play on the radio?

You would be better off with it playing on the radio. My old Mazda has this; it's complete garbage.

It shows up on the nav map just like the ARTTI traffic, just on fewer streets.

Does it automatically re-route you if you're using destination guidance?
