For me it doesn't worth it, absolutely.

I guess we're all looking for something different out of an exhaust which is why there are so many different options on the market.

I do understand your disappointment though basing your 339 purchase on hearing 340 versions on YouTube, I'm just saying I don't think everyone should rule out 339 completely as we all want something different out of an exhaust.

Anyways hopefully I can chime in once I've installed mine in a couple of weeks.

Ok, I suggest you to take a video now of your stock exhaust and then another one, in the same conditions, of your next MPE 339 and then you will tell me if it worth the price...

Yep will do that I did see the video someone posted here of the stock cabrio vs 339 MPE and I could notice an audible difference in the video.

Also the latest video you posted saying it was "terrible", I must disagree. I can hear a difference and I think it sounds good! I do agree that it doesn't sound as good as v340, but I wouldn't call it terribl

Whether it's worth it or not, guess it depends on who you ask.

out of curiosity, and it could be a silly question, other than the invoice, anywhere else to check to see if my mpe is 339 or 340? seems like the exhaust itself doesn't say, and don't know if just me or some of you would feel the same, when first drive the car at cold, seems exhaust is very quiet until maybe couple mins, then exhaust seem to get louder

For those (like me) who are not american I've found out, just yesterday, that BMW at least omologated #340 also for Europe, but only for 435i 8AT, while 6MT continue to have installed my silent #339 version, exactly like Canadian cars.

Are there separate part numbers for the exhaust for 8AT and 6MT then? What do you mean by "omologated"?

Yes, sorry, I mean "approved" according to country laws.
Yes, in Europe there are now, exactly like in Canada, the #339 for 6MT and the nice sound #340 for 8AT.
Anyway, check with your VIN code in www.realoem.com, even if I don't know if it works for your country (I red only USA and Europe).

Hi there,
I am back to this thread after long cease.
How did you discover that BMW has omologated for the European version of the exhaust?

www.realoem.com
I put, as usual, my VIN number and found out that the 340 suddenly appeared in the after-market exhaust system!

Wouldn't it be smart just buying the 340 then?
you can always sell the 339 to someone who don't know what it's like ?

I visited RealOEM and made the same attempt. Yes what you are saying is true. However, the website shows #340 in some rows and still shows #339 in others. Can you explain what the website is referring?

My car's VIN number is WBA3R1102EKS91455

To make things more clear, frankly the M Performance Exhaust in my car makes a good and acceptable tone at startup and revving while stationary. When I accelerate up to 3000-6000 rpm the tone gradually fades and shows no impressive tone at all. The same issue recurs while driving; no impressive sporty tone at all. Are you sure that #340 is free of this issue in particular?

I got mine last week, I don't think it's completely broken in yet but so far 500 miles in I don't hear a nice sporty tone within the 3-6k RPM except for an exhaust blurb when the car shift automatically on S mode. Hopefully after 1000 miles it would be better, but I am also going to dump money on the MPPK. If that doesn't work then a downpipe....

Thank you very much for your response. In fact, I have installed in my 435i the EU version which ends with #339. At startup the car sounds nice but while driving, the tone is barely audible and no any performance is experienced from the exhaust. Can you help us observe the issue by shooting a drive-by footage at speeds ranging between 60-100 km/h and engine betweeen 3000-6000 rpm ? I will be very grateful if you manage to do it.

Haitham, listen to me: plan to replace your 339 with a 340 and you will be very happy! I'll try to make the same, maybe after summer...
I want the right sound!!!!

WOW! I learned something new today that there are different versions of the MPE wtf?!

Thank God the MPE on my F30 335i was exactly what I wanted. Plus I bought it new for about 20% off and it is a genuine part from a BMW dealer that was having some mad sale. Glad I did. After hearing all the videos I knew it wasn't going to sound night and day different, and it would take a while for the packing material to settle, but I was more after the slight gain in performance since I did have a tune on the car and needed a free flowing exhaust with an angry grunt. Not a PAINFUL high pitched VTEC sound crying in pain while being chain banged by my car HAHAHA. Take that Honda! VTEC just kicked in yo!!!! Damn it's not enough hit the nitrous!!!! You can rape us in gas mileage and resale, but we will rape you in the most important part of car ownership: PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS! Yeah....very few of us have the money to afford a car that will give us instantaneous happiness.

If you want obnoxiously loud rebel without a cause which I've done that before....cherry bomb triple chambered elongated 26" with all resonators removed and dualed out from a big block V8 pick up truck dumped to the floor behind the cab (it would rattle th mirrors and my change in the car tray if I gunned it)....needless to say my neighbors hated my big ass red truck, if you want exotic sexy I'd say Akraprovic or Meisterschaft, if you want rumble don't F with me or I will go ape shit on you go to a custom exhaust shop start with Borla or Flowmaster muffler and work your way to the sound you want.
