F31 lowering springs with EDC

I’ve been reading up on the forums about lowering my new F31 with EDC but the info is all a little confusing and not as straight forward as I though on this vehicle.

What is the best choice for lowering spring for an F31 with EDC?

What I have come up with is:

1. Eibach
2. ACS

Anyone have experience with either of these springs on stock struts with EDC? Or other suggestions.

Here in the UK the AC springs are the ones most folk go for; the Eibach pro kits get mentioned a lot too... You'll be fine with either really as they don't lower a huge amount over M Sport

Does anyone have experience with the ST adjustable lowering springs for this vehicle?

i believe eibach manufactures the springs for acs. it may have slightly different spring rates and amount of lowering. acs usually costs more as well, so i'd just get eibach.

I just installed these on my 2018 440i GC xDrive (F36) with EDC if this helps.

https://www.tunershop.com/eibach-spr...6-pro-kit.html

…looks great and definitely tightens things up just a bit in a good way. Don’t find myself going into sport mode to firm things up as much as before. I shaved stock bump stocks a tad (just above the taper) and refreshed the rubber parts on top/bottom of springs.

Going to install my Eibach Pro Kit on my 2018 F31 with adaptive suspension and I opened the Eibach box and found a couple of spacers for the rear springs??? Does anyone know where these get installed?

If they don't fit inside the rear spring cups, they then go on top of the spring cup between the cup and the body. I made similar spacers for people to adjust rear ride height up.

Thank you!!! So I should install these above the cups?

Also, I contacted Eibach, and they insisted that the bump stop should not be trimmed. Can you also confirm this as we know from reading your amazing posts that you are an expert on this!

You can see in my quoted post below how my spacers (likely how the Eibach ones are also installed).

If you need a set I can make some fairly cheaply.
As for the bump stops. Eibach kind of has to say that for CYA, but I recommend making sure you have 0.5-1" of free damper travel.

So I should trim the front bump stops for sure? 0.5-1.0” (trim the first section off)

Rears?

Thanks for all your help.

Not that you should trim them that much, but as much as needed so you have between 0.5-1" of free damper travel, same with the rear. You'll have to see for your own ride height how much that means trimming. Or just get different shorter bump stops.

So Eibach spring install is done but the drop is very marginal. Looks almost the same as stock…..

Anyone have experience with the ST Adjustable lowering springs?

Which pro kit part number did you use? 15-22?

Just checking - there are so many variables here that I wanted to confirm. I have an appointment next week to get 15-22 put on my car (also AW, but a 2019 330ix with edc) - I'm removing the H&R sports that are too low for my taste.

I'm asking because I'd be happy if mine ended up looking like yours, which I agree is a bit on the high side but still looks good IMO.

I looked into the ST adjustable springs but they are at a weird price point and I couldn't easily tell what the minimum and maximum drops were.

Did you email ST tech support to ask them? They were very responsive to my questions

on www.eibachshop.com, there are two different sets of springs listed. on both sets, the rears same, however one set has front springs with 965kg front axle load and the other with a 1010kg front axle load. i believe the 965 kg(14-22) front axle load spring is for the lighter 4-cyl and the 1010kg(15-22) front is for the 6-cyl. the 1010kg(15-22) spring diameter will be slightly thicker to support the 6-cyl weight and using it on a 4-cyl would probably not lower the the front as much as it's supposed to.

from you pics, it appears the rear has the appropriate drop and gap but front seems higher with larger gap. so, i believe 14-22 is what you should have. i could be wrong on this, though.

if you switch to coilovers, i'd skip ST and go KW for the stainless body as it's more resistant to corrosion.
.

I didn't - the price being double the eibachs for adjustability that I might not even use took them out of consideration.

The US site only spits out the 15-22 when you put in the car details. I can't find it right now but I seem to recall reading that someone else had figured out the the front axle load for the b46 actually confirmed that the 15-22s were correct.

Fwiw the sticker on the car says the front axle load for a 330ix is 1015kg, meaning that the 15-22s are definitely correct
