b48 exhaust upgrade

Hi guys, im looking to do a small exhaust upgrade to my f30 330i msport

ive read a few threads and there are alot of mixed responses about whats nice and whats not, all i want to achieve is a louder DSG fart and a louder Burble, im hoping to just replace a muffler or baffle without throwing a code. does anyone know what i should do ?

im sure someone told me that would throw a code ? i dont have the money right now to be playing with it that much. someone told me replacing the resonator in the downpipe would be perfect but it has a sensor in it ?

nope, my downpipe has no error code, and has been using it for 2 years. many F30 user in Indonesia has replace their downpipe, and almost all of them has no error code, even without a remap.

I am full catless, no tune, just put an o2 spacer in the downpipe. I only occasionally get a CEL, its not a big deal, it runs great.

do you get any drone? i recently got a resonator removed and its made the farts and burbles a little more defined but i feel it could be a little louder. i just dont want any drone i want to still have a nice comfortable driving experience when im on the highway, i was thinking of maybe replacing the cat with a more highflow cat or something along those lines. i just don't know enough about this stuff to be able to predict how its gonna sound.

also what is a CEL

CEL - check engine light

if you want to achieve what you want, use catless downpipe, it will be no drone.
Drone commonly caused by the muffler design, so if you stick to original muffler, the drone could be none.

i spoke to the guy who removed my Resonator, he said there is another resonator that can be removed that wont throw a code. he is suggesting i do that first rather than taking a CAT out straight away.

thoughts ?

standard center pipe did come with 2 resonator
but i will not cut my standard center pipe, when i want back to stock it will cause much hassle

also removing another resonator will not give you much improvement in terms of sound and performance, at least that's what i experienced before

I have an n20 (only one cat in down pipe), do you have an n26 (primary cat in down pipe secondary cat in mid pipe)? If you have the 2 cat n26, I would delete both cats and leave the resonator alone, then if looking for more sound, look in to a high end axle back like dinan or mpe etc... as those have helmoltz chambers built in like the oem muffler, which counteract drone.

If you look at the picture I attached, that is an n26 midpipe. It is the pipe in between the down pipe and the axleback. The first thing in the mid pipe is the secondary cat (looks more rectangular), then the resonator is next (looks more like an oval).

For my setup, I installed an AFE catless downpipe, supersprint front pipe, 3" straight pipe to the factory resonator and then a Dinan axle back. It has a loud cold start, but once warm, it has a nice sound, definitely not too loud and there is zero drone.

There is only one resonator. If you have an n26, you have one cat and one resonator in the mid pipe, as well as one cat in the downpipe.

oh my bad, sorry should have read the title lol. For you b48 guys, the B48 is to the B46, what the N20 is to the N26... I just googled that picture, but I am sure you could find more in bmw parts fiche.

That should help. That actually does look like two resonators, interesting.

But this makes it look more like a second cat:

Oh well, good luck.

i think we are talking about B48, not N20/N26
B48 had 2 resonator, i guest it's to comply with new regulation for emission

Emissions regulations on the b48/b46 could be the opf filter. I know the b46 is the more emissions heavy version of the b48 (similar to n20 vs n26)....
