Very harsh ride on F30 Sport Line?
I have a 2014 328d X-Drive Sedan Sport Line that I bought as a used CPO a couple of years ago. I am using non-run flat tires, 18" Nokian WRG4. I currently have 82,000 KM (51,000 mi).
I thought mine was normal, until I drove a service loaner not too long ago that was a base model F30 320i, and it was much more comfortable. With mine, every bump and groove in the pavement is felt, and sometimes is border line jarring. Is this something to do with the Sport Line trim, or is there something wrong with my suspension? My last full service was only two months and nothing came up on the inspection. |

What tires do you have? I switched from Michelin pilot sport all seasons to the Bridgestone s.01 pole position much smoother ride. Michelin pilot super sports summers are good too. All seasons seem to make it rough. I have sport line with m sport suspension too. It was an add on.

Here in the US, the Sport Line models had 18" tires, but the base F30 had 17". That could be a factor, in addition to the actual tires.

There are several things at play. Your car is much older (newer ones tend to have better ride quality) and your suspension has a lot more miles on it as well.
Are you sure it was a F30 and not a G20? The ride on the new platform is a lot better. |

Yeah the service loaner was a 2018 320i, so F30. I think it had the 17" rims too. I guess the fact it was newer and smaller rims probably explain most of the difference in comfort.

I had 19” on my 335i and the 18” on my 328i doesn’t feel significantly better. Possibly the loaner had m sport adaptive suspension (can be added as a single add on I believe)
Those have adaptive dampers. You could always refresh your suspension and maybe get koni comfort dampers |

I have a 2013 328i X-Drive Sport Line with run-flats and 96.5km/60K miles. Ride is not harsh, it is soft with a bit of floaty-ness, not 'harsh'. From viewing other forum posts, this seems to be what other F30 X-Drive owners have experienced as well. My understanding is 'Sport Line' does include changes to the suspension from standard.
Have you verified the struts/shocks/springs on your car are BMW original stock parts? Any chance the car has aftermarket suspension parts? |
