There's only one transmission tune.

Running the DUDMD Stage 1 tune w/EGR + DEF delete & xHP custom trans tune, very happy with the combo.
I'm looking to move towards the Stage 2 tune which deletes the DPF manifold and replace it with a downpipe. Simultaneously I'd like to upgrade the intercooler with a Wagner EVO II model. I'd like to retain the catalytic converter to minimize the smell. 1. My question is is there any negatives with deleting the DPF while leaving the catalytic converter in place? 2. Can I leave the non-o2 sensors that are plugged into the cat pipe in place when I delete the DPF? TIA! |

Okay I’m looking at completely deleting my 2014 328d. So my question to everyone is what do I do after deleting it? Obviously it has to be tuned, but by a professional tuner or can I do it myself?
Any advice about anything with my new car would be greatly appreciated! Also I don’t know how to make a post, so I guess this is a reply?😂 |

But if you have to ask about tuning afterwards, then you’re best off going to a pro who can tune out the deletes . I used DUDMD but there are several tuners out there to choose from. Last edited by Pepi; 03-26-2024 at 06:39 PM.. |

Is anyone running Malone/Tunezilla? A lot of the vw/audi guys swear by Malone tuning and prefer it over kerma. I’ve read better reliability and that their advertised gains are 100% accurate unlike kerma’s and other tuners.

That's an awful lot of "hearsay." Don't waste your time with Malone for this platform. Do you want a tune from someone that daily drives the 328d and has a ton of time getting intimate with the subtle nuances (KermaTDI), or one that probably never even owned one (Malone).

I have a simple dinantronics, but am contemplating getting a really good tune. My priorities are reliability as well as keeping all my emissions equipment in tact. From what I’ve been reading kerma seems like the best option. I surf the Audi/vw tdi boards (my previous diesel was an Audi) and read positive things about Malone so I thought I’d ask and see if anyone had experience. I’ve read a lot of your posts so thank you for all the insight you’ve given me indirectly. As it’s sits, I’m most likely going to end up with kerma stage 2 in my car. |

BTW, the tuner who did the KermaTDI tune is also a long time VW diesel Jetta owner. That car has ~340k miles on it now!

Dinan was kind of a stop gap for me, slight increase in power while I research and figure out what the best option is moving forward. So I have no regrets with it. I knew what I was getting going in. |

I'm fully tuned. I've driven behind my 328d and there is a tiny amount when stepping on it, but it's barely noticeable. Nothing you'd be able to notice in the rearview. Anyway, I've been modded for like 30k miles (just rolled over 200k this week!) and I'm very happy with it. My only comment is that while yes, it's got tons of power, it's still a clattery tiny diesel. I haven't put the thing in sport mode in like 2 years. Modding is still 100% worth it for the reliability improvements and it really does drive a lot more smoothly for normal day to day use. |

I have a Malone tune on my TDI but seems they aren’t the best option for the 328d |

How come Kerma isn't going to work for you?

Kerma TDI stage 1 for me. 142k miles, added something like 3k ago.
I wanted to keep emissions equipment and this made a lot of sense. As others have reported, DEF usage does seems much higher even in my limited mileage. Its a great balance though. Punchy, strong pull at the top end and though the stage 1 doesnt include a transmission tune (IIRC), it seems to have changed slightly and is smoother and holds gears better than before. I cant comment on the MPG though. Months of limp mode triggered and constantly looking for any evidence on why, I replaced a bunch of sensors, boost pipes and it seemed to have been the MAF! Replaced that and MPG shot up. Cannot isolate between the tune and the MAF though. Getting solid numbers though, so can say that its certainly not dropped! One fairly steady run on 55MPH country roads was showing 625 miles range and a solid 48MPG overall. Got to go modern Prius to get better! |

I also have a Kerma stage 1 on my 2014 328d with 120K miles. Have had the tune about 4 years. Can confirm that the DEF usage almost doubled after installing the tune. However, performance and driveability seem like they almost doubled also!

Question for those with the Kerma transmission tune. When shifting manually (or in auto to I guess), are your shifts from 2nd->3rd delayed compared to 3-4 or 4+5? By delayed I meant a higher minimum RPM before the car will let you shift. I usually shift manually and found that the shift from 2nd to 3rd can't happen until around 1700 rpm, where as all other up shifts are allowed at a lower RPM...

Kerma is by far the most refined tune from all the research I have done, It seems as he daily drives one he has refined it the most and has seen customer dyno charts to show the claims on power added. I would love to get his stage 2 tune and trans tune but I know due to EPA crackdowns there is no option for delete. Does anyone know if there is a possiblility to get an offroad/track waiver for the Kerma tune to be able to have stage 2 tune with deletes? |
