Mine currently has no antenna, and it works!

The problem is that if the phone moves away from the vicinity of the HU then it can become laggy when scrolling on the CarPlay menu or it can sometimes become jittery during music playback.

Unsure if you encountered anything like this, but the antenna will solve it!

Only way to tell for certain would be to check the back of the HU

Yes I do encounter this, I thought it was to do with the phone. Where did you get the antenna from and what's the installation procedure?

Antenna is from BMW - part number is in one of my previous posts if you need it - they are under £20 from the dealers!

I used to have no issues with a bit of DIY Car Stereo installation (back in the days of my trusty Escort XR3i) and would often help out for friends but I am a bit more cautious of screwing my warranty now.

Also be interested to see if this solves the issues you are having too.

Have one EVO ID5/6 to install today together with WiFi and CarPlay, big job for car as started his LEDs headlights yesterday...
He will post photos on FB, so keep eyes open

Yeh Craig is a great guy - he's not on the forums much these days, but there is no doubt the guy really knows his stuff!

I will report back with regards to the antenna - its going in at 8am tomo!

No pics in the end, but yes this solved the problems. Perfect connection every time with the WiFi antenna!

If I remove head unit (seems easy enough) and plug WiFi antenna in which I’m assuming is number 8. Hopefully the antenna plug is same colour where have u guys been mounting the antenna to

Not 100% sure think it only work on the nbt evo with Idrive 6
