Top 3ish regrets
I don’t have many but I do have a few
1) Buying an Audi 2) Chopping in my iPhone XR for an 11+ 3) Drinking Stella laced with whiskey on New Year’s Eve at the millennium |

1) Not realising when a girl called Beulah was coming onto me. (First of many such screw ups)
2) Turning down the chance to learn piano for free as a child. Preferred to play football with my mates, despite my marked lack of skill. 3) Not being able to get my Dad over to the US as a resident. |

Not joining the police 10 years earlier
Frittering away an inheritance from my Dad which although not large, would have got me a deposit on a property I could have rented out. Falling in love with my straight best friend |

If I gave too much thought to all the things I should or shouldn't have done, there'd be no time left for anything else, so mostly I take the Edith Piaf line.
But yes, playing the piano would be a whole lot easier if I'd taken advantage of the one that was sat in our living room for most of my childhood. |

No regrets for me as my many mistakes have made me what I am and my only motto is ensuring I don't repeat costly mistakes.
I suppose maybe not starting smoking herb but.....

Nothing major for me, just the odd thing here and there, but nothing particularly life changing.
I wished I'd maybe done Economics or something like that for my degree, rather than Computer Science, but I certainly don't see it as a life regret. With cars I've got a few i think I should have kept hold of for longer, but few I regret buying. I have a few mods I regretted however! Putting aftermarket Angel Eyes on my E46 330d Putting a loud exhaust on my Boxster Putting really stiff AntiRoll bars on my F31 335d

1. I could write a top 20 based on our second pregnancy. Suffice to say, you can't forgive yourself but have to live with it.
2. Losing the cultural and human benefits of a 'global' job, getting out because of the drain of travel...just six months before the travel part disappeared. 3. Not going back to Rio a few more times when i was single.

Regrets :
Not paying for my lottery numbers for a year in advance when I went travelling. I found out that I'd 'got' the jackpot when I was in a hostel in South Africa and would have won £5.4M. True story. Apart from that, nothing that's scarred me. Sometimes you do well; sometimes you fuck up; life's a journey...

Very few really
I joined the NHS from a well-paid private sector job 3 years ago, taking a 25% pay cut to do so. Yeah, that looks like a really bad decision, but it's put me in the right place, at the right time, to be able to help as best I can - rather than be sitting on my arse on furlough for most of the last year What's the quote ? "The universe has a way of making sure you are exactly where you need to be, exactly when you need to be there" Something like that |

Probably just the one.
Not being more adult and understanding when my Mum remarried when I was 19. My Dad had died when I was just 11 and my Mum was widowed at 37. After 8, probably long and lonely years, during which she brought up my sister and me on her own, she met and married a fine man. At 19 I just couldn't really handle it and was an absolute pain. Over the years I became close to my Step Father and I couldn't have wished for a better partner for my Mum. But at the time of her remarriage I behaved badly and always regretted it. Still, I like to think we learn from these episodes and make us what we are.

Nearest I ever got was on the fourth ever week of the lottery, when most folk would watch it live, sat there with my best mate and he got the first 3 numbers that came out. The excitement was incredible. To be half way there at one point, and just end up with a tenner is the biggest disappointment and anti-climax you can imagine. Till I read your story!

Regret is a useless emotion - wish I’d known that a long time ago.
• I regret rubbing ketchup in my eyes - But that’s Heinz sight. • One thing I regret is that I left my girlfriend after she lost her foot in an accident. - I am just lack toes intolerant. • My friends invited me to barbecue yesterday. I said no but now I'm regretting it - that was a missed steak. |
