does anyone run koni special actives or bilstein b8 with stock spring?
hey friends.
my 2014 335i m sport rwd is at 140k kms (87k miles). i think i need new shocks. looking at either bilstein b8 or koni special active. not interested in lowering the car so planning to reuse stock m sport springs. online reading suggests koni is more comfortable but bilsteins sportier and firmer. has anyone had experiece with either on stock springs? would love to hear about ur experiece. |

The Koni Special Active use a different technology that was developed with McLaren. It's based on the fact that sporty curves and rough roads have different frequencies. So the SA's have two valves that operate at different frequencies to match. Koni Special Actives handle rough roads and potholes like a comfort shock. But they tighten right up and handle curves like a sport shock. It really is the best of both worlds. I've had SA's on my car almost three years. Originally the car was too stiff to enjoy driving on a weekend trip so we'd take a different car. With the SA's it's more comfortable and has become our first choice. At the same time the SA's have made it much sportier. The control in curves is much improved. I can accelerate much faster through curves than I ever could when the car was stock. I'd have no hesitation doing a track weekend with my car buds. Hope this helps! |

I fitted a set to my E91 wagon when they were known as the Koni FSD. Excellent balance of ride quality and control on standard springs. Far better than the original dampers. Ran them for several years, no regrets at all. As a side point, used them with run-flats and non run-flats, improved the RFT ride quality, superb with non run-flats. Whereas the original OE damping was all wrong with non run-flats. |

My buddy has a the B8's paired with H&R Springs and the ride is amazing. I'm waiting for mine to come in and they'll be paired with the Dinan springs.

Thank for the replies all
I am ordering a set of Konis. After so many KMs my car is truly not riding like a premium car. |
