The saloons XE, XF and XJ plus F type are built at CB. F pace built at Solihull and E pace in Austria.
Cheers, so it's the four least fashionable models that are built there then.

I'm definitely not surprised in that case, the XF stood still and effectively fell back against the competition when the new model launched and the XE was an Audi-style photocopier shrink button job of the same car. Plus two ageing niche models.

Hard to see where any volume recovery will occur for Castle Bromwich, I guess recovery of their saloon sales in China will be the only hope.

Unless a new model is incoming...that might also help justify keeping the workers on the books while not producing at full rate.

I've read quite a bit on the Jaguar issue, (including ahead of this latest management comment), but must say I'm still not seeing what really is going on with the company. I'm not just buying into the cars on offer are not up to par. Part of it maybe, but something else is missing in my mind.

I keep thinking, is it still the age old Jaguar image? Whatever they do does not seem to reach out (could include user perception) to the wider market.

Most on here will equate 'premium' with German cars, which clearly dominate the market segment. Do younger folks (the market they need) aspire to running a Jaguar? Even if it is on a level with the German Three.

PCP is king in the modern premium car era, for many reasons residual values are key to this and the German Triad Gang BMW/M/A dominate in that respect.

I'd say the Range Rover arm of JLR is doing somewhat better as the premium perception and reality is a little truer. Thus residuals are pretty strong.

I wouldn't mind a 3 day week till xmas...but the uncertainty that follows...horrible! Brother in Law works at Benley, nice Middle Management role, I think there is talk internally there of a wave of 'R' coming next year.

Funny. It wasn't that long ago we were all being told by Journos that the XE was a 3 series killer.

Usual JLR 5star review. They are good cars TBF, nice to see us Brit's supporting each other.

When the recent MG cars came out and got 2/3 stars...you knew that was an absolute turd! (Sorry if anyone has one)

I can't remember seeing any XEs on the road; not a single one.

I imagine that the hospitality organised for motoring journos by Jaguar is second to none. I have a few friends who are journos and it makes a big difference to what they have to say, believe me.
I had an entry level XE as a hire car a few years ago and thought it was very ordinary, both to drive and to look at. The XF looks very tired and the only people who travel in XJs are cabinet ministers. If the US, China and the ME are buying less Range Rovers, then JLR has a real problem.

I saw a blue metallic XE on an M6 service station back in spring, and it struck me that the styling has a lot in common with the F30; short overhang in front, sweeping roofline with a high, short boot lid, "eyebrows" over the headlamps. If I was to look for an alternative for the F30, from an aesthetic point of view, I'd look closer at the XE. Pity they now only do four cylinder engines though, and 300 hp from a 2 litre four-pot sounds rather highly strung. Wonder what the lifespan and reliability will be...?

You probably have, and assumed it was a XF!

Talk about misleading headlines when they’re bringing forward the annual maintenance shutdown to minimise any disruption, which sounds like a sensible move.
I guess BMW brings forward maintenance to minimise Brexit disruption doesn’t sound as good even if more factually correct

Only because they come in bullet proof security variants. True story.

Maybe.

My mate has a XE S with the 3.0 supercharged engine. It's in the lovely metallic red they do.

It is actually a lovely car to drive and the handling is very very good.

But.. he's had no end of rattles, squeaks, knocks from it. At one point it sat stripped out at the dealers for approx 6 weeks waiting for a part on back order.

He loves the car when he has it but he'd never buy another Jaguar. He regrets not buying a 440i instead.

I always think they look great from the front, but then it's like they lost interest by the time they got to styling half way down the car. The rear is very dull.
Folk complain about wheel arch gaps on BMWs, but Jag have managed that Lexus trick to make the rear of the XE look more like its on a space saver wheels! :

Heard a radio advert yesterday with Jaguar offering 0% APR finance on the XE (selected models) over 3 years on a PCP which indicates they aren't selling very well at all.
