2013 328i - 40k miles

Stalling during start/stop activation. Hesitation off the line.

Dealer took two attempts to diagnose and ultimately found a leak in intake housing. Replaced intake housing under warranty.

"40,000 miles on my 328i and still going strong"

I thought OP specified high mileage?

Garage List
66k on my 328i

Work completed:

- Timing chain & guide (was caught before engine grenaded)

- both horns replaced

- car alarm siren replaced

- both hood latches replaced

I also need to replace worn out Front Tension Struts, but that will be covered by me since CPO warranty doesn't.

My 2012 335i CPO is not high mileage (42K miles) but:

1) Oil filter housing cracked, cross-contaminated the engine oil and coolant systems (fixed free of charge)

2) Hood release cable and latch on the passenger side were replaced; looks like the latch was defective from the factory and should have been replaced by the previous owner shortly after he leased the car (thankfully, BMW picked up the charge to replace the latch and cable since there was documentation that I had complained right after I first bought the car two years ago about how difficult it was to release the hood)

That's it, and I've been very happy with the car, and with my dealer's (Crevier in Santa Ana, CA) and BMW's customer service.

2012 335i currently at 49k. @45K miles I had some minor issues but I can live with them. Only thing that pisses me off is the dealer basically told me to kick rocks and would not help with anything.

-knee bolster rattles over bumps, dealer told me that I have lowering springs and they cannot diag my car any further for that.

-radio randomly resets when phone is plugged in usb, one local dealer told me they updated the radio, took it to another dealer and they said the radio was never updated and they updated it, still gives issues but now my warranty is expired so I just deal with it.

-drivers seat squeaks bad like others have mentioned and they could "not duplicate" even tho when the advisor brought my car to deliver my vehicle it did it as he was getting out of the car.

-Brakes made a lot of noise and grind. Dealer would not do anything about it since they could not duplicate concern. So I replaced all pads/rotors myself.

I have worked as a Chevrolet service advisor now for over 8 years. I know the crap that goes on in the shop and the way customers can be. But it pisses me off so badly getting the run around on my car and having to fix issues myself and out of pocket even tho I had a warranty.

2012 328i CPO
just purchased in July with 34000 miles, its got 41000 now and had it back to the dealer 3 times
CEL on, they replaced the temp sensor..A few days later back on again and now replaced the Temp sensor again and the thermostat. No issues so far after that repair and all done under CPO..

Recall for oil lines to turbo

Thats it so far but very concerned about timing chain failures. I just changed the plugs and oil and sent a oil sample out. Ill post when I here from them..
But I do love the car!!

Radio button panel replaced by dealer due to crack/light shine through.

It has been good so far.
Did they replace your radio panel under warranty? I have the same issue and they wouldn't do it under warranty and that interior trim is not covered.
I had mine replaced under warranty as well. The crack as only visible at night when the backlight was on. The service advisor wrote it up as a stress crack.

Too late for this thread but it would be interesting if each response included lease vs buy and 1st owner or not, and if not cpo or not.

Just a hypothesis: 1st owner purchased vehicles are treated better resulting in fewer problems vs any of the other combinations. Age of the owner might be another useful variable.

According to the dash display it had 7000 miles on it and the dealer said bring it back when it has 10,000. Sorry but im old school and cant let it go that long especially with a turbo. So from now on its getting changed at 5,000 miles..

First purchase, also forgot to include that both horns were replaced around 48k, seems to be pretty common problem though.

NOx sensor at purchase
Front brakes replaced under warranty at 45k
Had the pinch sensors in the front windows malfunction, reflashed computer at dealer, problem solved.
Engine seems to "miss" at cold start during winter, dealer said it was nothing out of the usual, could be lower grade diesel used in winter, gonna look at using dieselkleen this winter to see if the problem comes back.

Currently have a front wheel bearing that seems to be going out, will get it looked at on next service.

Nothing else out of the usual aside from regular maintenance otherwise. I was going to see about trading it in next spring, but thanks to VW, I'm probably better off keeping it with how fast it's depreciating.

So far from what I've seen on the forum...

oil filter housing gasket leaks
valve cover gasket leaks
coolant level sensor
charge pipes (seems mostly on modded cars)
tail lights being replaced (this one is odd, but I've read it a few times here)

I'm just over 15K miles now and just gave the car it's third oil/filter change. I had mine changed just after break-in at around 1300 miles, and then twice more since. I think the BMW synthetic oil has good life on it, but I don't like letting the filter go past 7K. Since the change cycle is around 12K I only end up having to pay for 1 a year since BMW gets the other. I think that 100.00 a year is minimal. Even if I don't keep the car past three years (new car temptation is tough) someone will get a well maintained vehicle.

I agree with this. I rarely keep my cars past 100k miles, but I like to maintain them well during that time regardless. I did 7.5k mile "half-step" oil changes on my e46 and e82, and will continue the same trend on my f30.

2013 335i with 54k miles. Purchased the vehicle as a one owner without any warranty left. Had the vehicle since 49k miles and had no issue except for the stock Charge pipe cracking.
I did however realize oil in the chargepipe and around the undercarriage but from what I've read that's normal with these cars? Someone mentioned an oil catch can should do the trick any have any feedback on this?

2012 328i Sportline (ED) with 53K. Had the seats replaced early (under warranty) when the rust issue surfaced. Other than that, only a replaced expansion tank (again, under warranty). So far, no major issues.....knock on wood.
