(Newbie question) Best option to stiffen suspension, possibly adaptive?
Hello suspension tuners, I have a possibly very basic question however I've never ever done anything related to suspensions and don't have a clue about coilovers vs shocks vs whatever, so here goes.
Right now I have the stock suspension for a 2wd 330d, no line, no m-sport, no adaptive suspension. In winter I ride on Bridgestone run-flats, while in summer, Michelin PSS go-flats. With that in mind, here's what I want to achieve: - reduce body rolling in corners (for example, when braking before a corner and starting to turn in, I feel the outside front of the car go very much down, I'd like to reduce that) - reduce bounciness over uneven highways (this is the wobbliness people describe, and yes, going over a bump will make the car go bounce, bounce, bounce, sometimes indeed 2-3 times) - keep as much comfort as possible (I do a lot of highway driving, and occasionally like a sportier ride, and also having in mind run-flat and go-flat mix) - keep car height where it is, I don't care or want to lower it for looks, I like it as it is My ideal scenario would be an aftermarket kit which would also be push-button-switchable from comfort to sport, or fully integrated to the car. Unfortunately I don't have a large garage to jack up the car every few days and adjust the suspension mechanically. (Did I get it right, that adjustable suspensions require you to jack up the car in order to reach into the wheel well with the key? Any simpler solutions?) What I read so far, Bilstein B6 is one option but is not adjustable. I haven't found anything easily adjustable for a car without adaptive electronics already built in. Another option is to start with a strut bar, though opinions seem to vary on the effectiveness of it. Any opinions / recommendations? Let's assume the price range is not an issue at the moment, I'm really interested first of all in even understanding the options. |
