Going up HWY 26? 'Cause that's the spot in town where a situation like that seems the most scary. On the way down wouldn't be fun, either... Eep.

Don't forget everyone. Our temp gauges read oil, not water temp.

HWY 30 approach to Fremont bridge. Luckily he was able to get over to the shoulder before the merge with I-405 N. on the lower deck.

1 week in, still waiting on replacement pump and gasket to arrive. Current ETA is Friday.

I find it odd that at least one other dealership in the area claim they can get the part in 2 - 3 days and ECS Tuning has the pump available for shipment in 2 days.

UPDATE:

Finally got my car back after 3 whole weeks.

RealOEM and dealer parts site list that coolant pump (part no. 11512379782) has been superseded by a new coolant pump (part no. 11517643067). However the new part does not fit North American builds, at least the early ones. Dealership found this after they received the pump with new part no. and it did not fit my car (July 2015 build).

They had to contact BMW AG and get the coolant pump with the original part no. shipped in. Part came in about 1 pm yesterday afternoon and picked up my car later in the evening.

So they replaced a possibly defective pump with the same kind? I guess there must have been a pretty substantial change to the motor to not try and fit the new pump (using an adapter or something).

That's pretty confusing. I'm thinking there has to be more to this that you're not being told.

What I was informed was that the new pump comes with a bracket which apparently does not fit NA models and is meant for the European market. So, the new model of the pump they received could not be installed on my car and they had to place order for the same part number as the defective pump and I verified the part number to be the same as those listed for early builds.
