Instead they've got a model with a highly divisive design, which is a big risk when car sales are at a record low, to say the least.

You might not like it, but I’ll wager you it’ll still sell by the boat load.

And having two cars that look almost the same is in my opinion an even bigger risk when sales are low. I think that the more expensive one would stop selling altogether if they did that. Especially as the 4 is bigger inside than the 8, the 8 is already pretty niche, make the 4 look the same and it becomes even more niche.

You may be right, who knows?
Having cars which look similar however hasn't stopped Audi or MB from selling millions of A4/A6 and C class/E class units - and the 5 LCI is now a bigger 3 series to my eyes.

I reckon the best bit of the new 4 is the front, and look forward to seeing that front on an M3.... hopefully......

ETTO
Looks wise, I prefer the S5 by a country mile - even if it is a V6 diesel now, G*d forbid.

As you say, etto especially with coupes. I think the S5 is looking a bit dated and the inside is much smaller than the 4 series. In an S5 my seat position in the front touches the back seats making it a no go for me. For others without kids, that may not be an issue.

The Merc coupes, particularly the C and the E get bigger on the inside as well as the outside as you go up in range. Whereas the the BMW 4 to 8 is the opposite. Next to no room in the back of the 8.

To my eyes the C is a bit shorter and uglier than the E coupe as well.

If BMW made the 4 look like the 8 I can’t see that many would choose the 8. Although that might be a positive, some more great lease deals might be available on them.

And like a few others, but not all I accept, I love the new design of the 4.

Thanks Chris, loving it so far. But also very happy the thread has turned into a platform for others to share their new pride and joy. Nothing like a bit of new car porn to lift the spirits!

You still enjoying the M135i?

Yes mate, not used much in last few weeks but back to Motech today for the Maxton rear diffuser to be fitted.

Early start and a tad jaded now. Will pop a pic up when cleaned. It feels like a rocket compared to a manual MX5.

as they say, its not about the problem but how its handled. I have to say I found Williams first rate and straight talking when I bought my car... mine was Stockport but they impressed me in their dealings.

Is it just for the tyre? Couldn’t they just swap on your drive?

No wonder cars are so expensive nowadays. Mine had to be recovered on the back of a truck, delivered back on a truck, with a courtesy car for 3 days, all for a puncture.
