Did I mess up?
I drive a 2015 335i. I finally bought some wheels, and I am worried that I screwed up.
They are 18x9.5 ET40 all around, with 255/40 tires on each. I admit that wheel fitment is something that I have never learned about. When I bolted the front wheels on they made contact with the calipers. Will these work with spacers? I am currently on my stock suspension, but have BC Racing BR series coil overs that will be going on in the next month or so. Really hoping I didn't screw the pooch here. These are the wheels if it it helps - https://www.fitmentindustries.com/bu...r-f21-18x95-40 |

Stock 8.0"x 18" ET34 400M wheels with either: 225/45-18 Pirelli runflats 245/40-18 Michelin Pilot 4S BMW wheels 9.0"x 19" ET29 255/35-19 MPS4S The key measurements are wheel offset, wheel width and tire width. Exact tire measurements can be found on the TireRack website in the Spec section for each tire model/size. Once you do this you have a good idea of how far you can safely poke in or out of the front wheel well. (The front is always tighter than the rear because of steering and often larger brakes.) Then draw the same types of diagrams for the wheel width and wheel offset that you are considering. This will also tell you exactly what size spacer you would need if you are poking too far in and need to move the entire wheel/tire assembly out a bit. Hope this helps! https://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-wheel_guide |

Uhm the centre bore of those wheels are 73.1...I don't think that's the correct size? the bore size on my f30 is 72.6. This is a more serious issue than the caliper rub imo.
I'd go with a 10mm spacer to resolve the caliper contact issue. If your putting in BCs, they come with camber plates so you'll be able to tuck the front wheels inside the fenders if they poke with a 255 wide tire. Aside from spacers, you should not need to do anything else. I ran 255s with an et34, 3mm spacer, and zero camber on stock suspension...there was no poking. They should not need much camber to tuck them in even with et40 and a 10mm spacer. I ran a 265 wide tire all round for the last couple of years and with a 15mm spacer up front and max negative camber, my front tires are clearly inside the lip of the inner fender... 275 wide is substantially more challenging to make fit...but not impossible. Frankly, I would just sell the wheels, do some reading/investigation into exactly what size/offset/bore wheels you need and start over Most if not all aftermarket wheel vendors (esp. forum vendors on here) are very knowledgeable & will help you with your selection Wheels should fit correctly & look good WITHOUT the use of spacers, I personally would not use spacers for any reason on any of my cars... On my 435ix I run 763M style wheels, 19x8.5/19x9.5 ET35/40 with 245/35-19 Front 275/30-19 Rear MPS A/S3+ Tires = no rubbing, no spacers & the tires are flush with my fenders for perfect look

Guess they are definitely an exception
Plus those wheels (at least the pic) are shown as having multiple lug drilling patterns to choose from in the same wheel - I always steer clear of wheels with multiple patterns as they are definitely made to try & be a 'universal fit' for many types of cars = fitting none perfectly

I would be going back to the company and asking for a wheel that fits. If they're a reputable firm they'll swap them out.
In the UK you have 14 days to return any item bought by mail order for a refund, I'm guessing there isn't the same consumer protection in the states? |

I am going to be exchanging them for wheels that have the proper caliper clearance.
With 18x8.5 et35 in the front, and 18x9.5 et35 in the rear, would my 255/40 tires still work without rubbing? |

That would be fine. The 9.5 would have the same poke as people running the 437M rims. So you can look at those and see if you are fine with it. The 9" et34 would be 5mm further in than the 9.5. Id say the 9" would be a good option with the 255 tire.

depends. without knowing rear camber settings this is challenging to tell. at max negative camber in the rear with a 255 wide tire and 35et, there's no way it will poke but max camber is not for everyone.
bare in mind some of the F30s were equipped with 255s in the back and with stock camber were not close to poking past the rear fenders. |
