Estoril Blue vs Estoril Blue #2

Just realized my car color was Estoril Blue #2, and not regular Estoril Blue. What's the difference?

I think the change was done to have a more environmentally safe paint?

I’ve always loved the color.

Eta- i get compliments from strangers all the time about the blue

Rumor has it that EBII is water based. BMW has used water base paint since the F series was introduced.

I believe Estoril Blue was discontinued a long time ago (~15 years ago). Estoril Blue 2 is the "regular" estoril blue now.

I thougt estoril blue ended with the e series. I had my e36 once parked beside a F30 and it looked like the estoril blue 2 is slightly darker. But it could be as well the age of my paint

I love it. In a row full of cars, ppl always says that blue stands out. Can't wait to really start modifying her❤️

Estoril Blue started with E36 M cars, continued as a special order for E46, then went away. Estoril Blue II is the water base formula, introduced with F cars. Park the 2 next to each other and they are a little different, II is a little darker. First iteration also had a bit of violet in it that showed up in sunrise and sunset. I've had both.
