BMW Marketing, words fail me.
Just going to leave this here, Literally bonkers I'm cringing and dying a little inside. I'm truly embarrassed by BMW's marketing and design philosophy in equal measure.

It might not even been the low point. However I've never been surer that I'm off somewhere else!
There's barely a car in the current line up I like. M2 not made anymore 3/4/8 series all incredibly meh The halo M8 zero want 5 series in nice M550i M5 lovely do it all cars. i3 and i8 ancient or not made anymore. X cars are ALL solid and saving the company. M3/4 new release, waited to see. No thanks and the marketing for that, the M Performance bits. An angry guy literally losing his shit in the car. Dreadful.

Whether or not that's a genuine BMW ad is irrelevant to me - it's horrendous.
My car is 8 years old and there's nothing in the current BMW range that I have an urge to replace it with. M2 has gone; M3 Touring maybe but I expect it'll be priced very high. I don't normally go for saloons but I'd rather have a Quadrifolglio than an M3. We've already got a family tank, so I have no need for a 4x4. My next car may well be older rather than newer - just working on the funds/plans for that. At this stage, and with the current 'design' direction (physically and 'spiritually', I've no desire to have another BMW.

The more I think about it I realise I've not ever really 'got' BMW or Merc (or Audi for that matter) etc anyway. Sure, there have been cars in their ranges that I've liked over the years but then the same could be said of most manufacturers. Hell, I'd even gladly own a Lada Cossack.
Some cars have the 'it' factor, and others don't. All the big lumpy X range that BMW offer look crap and don't offer anything that I would want to own as they're jacked up but with no substance. And that's despite really wanting another off roader. But neither the X3 or X5 even came into the ballpark when I was looking before getting the F31. Same with Audi and Merc or indeed any of the other manufacturers. I think one of the reasons it took so long to find a car when I was looking was that everything with character has disappeared and been replaced by a disposable fridge aimed to be leased and that just holds zero interest to me. That BMW aren't exactly offering much special in the current range doesn't surprise me as they had very little there anyway (as is the same with most manufacturers), and with the dumbing down of motoring in recent years so that everything is automated, most people now hunt by colour, local dealer or price now rather than anything as advanced as 'driving purity'. |

yeah...it has become accepted, almost expected, to shit on the older generation/boomers - guess all the thumbs up are from woke millennials. Although - the video is missing diversity, so it's kinda racist

I think BMW Marketing Department should hear "You are fired". Come on... is it the best commercial they can do?
Even apologizing at the end, but bashing a classic 7 series, is really poor taste. I'll not mention about design |

Talking for one Canadian I hope that is not a true commercial. If that is the best commercial that was picked to be shown I can't imagine what the other losers looked like. Where I live in Western Canada I don't recall the last BMW advertisement that I have seen on television or print except the odd car magazine. If this the quality of ads to come then BMW is wasting their budget.

I liked that........as much as watching the news on Corona 24/7
Must be fake news, surely ? or perhaps it was made to keep the kids entertained while parents are looking at showroom cars! There was a time when cars were advertised with the performance / handling / looks / capability element, so now it just seems how much IT they have. I do agree with some others, there are some fine older cars out there and there's not much in the current range from BMW that would tick my box if new. |

This is 100% a genuine BMW ad, they posted it via their offices and verified accounts on multiple platforms.

What Watsey said.....
Should have moved on from mine by now. However just nothing Bmw floating my boat at all in the range. Stats and drivewise the m340i might be acceptable; I doubt I’ll ever look back at it as I walk away tho. Considering getting an Alfa G for a couple of years to see what happens across the bmw range in the meantime (no need for Alfa jokes, heard them all before having owned 4) |

At least Audi have the R8 and Merc the GT, not sure either of those would tempt me away from Porsche or Lotus though. Maybe BMWs plan of attracting the younger generation is working, I could certainly see my son being all over that iX ........ not with my money though |

I'm minded the video shows where the market is going, whether we dinosaurs like it or not.
Are we not seeing the motoring world changing around us? Virtually all cars are now 'diluted', when we consider driving dynamics. Dynamics are not the key element of vehicle ownership. Been going this way for a good few years. 'SUV' says it all really. With many vehicles, it is technology that sets them apart. Now add in EV and where it goes, and who ends up on top, is anyone's guess. |

Oi! Not all of us in the Millenial demographic are Greta Thunberg worshipping hipsters hellbent on removing the scourge of IC cars from the road...even if I do like polar bears and penguins. I'll be stocking up on interesting IC cars with the best of them.

I've still not managed to move on from the good old 6MT gearbox, despite the ZF8 probably being superior which I'm sure a lot of the "oldies" on here in their cars.

This marketing is utter garbage. However, I don't agree that BMW's direction is completely wrong. In terms of style alone it's going downhill, but they are getting some other things very right from my perspective.
The M340i is a massively better car than any of the F3x models in my view. BMW cheapened the F3x to such an extent that it was no longer a small 5 Series. The G20 fully answers this, and while I'm neutral on the styling, the quality gap over its predecessor is unlike any I can remember. I quite like the G30 5 Series too as well as the X3, and I think the 8 looks fabulous particularly in 2 door coupe form, but perhaps that's just me! I was tempted by the 840i as it was a really good deal, but I'm completely hooked now and might get another when this deal is over. The B58 is a fabulous engine. A good deal on an M5 might still tempt me though. |
