The 4 series GC is killing the F30 in the poll at the end of the article.
"With all the talk of the 3 Series killer all these years, looks like we finally have one."

Righto. I'm going with the PSS as well. I presume it won't be hard to sell brand new performance RFs on Craig's List or Roundel.

Like others, I love it more than the F30. It almost makes the 3's greenhouse look bulbous in comparison. It's like this was the car that the 335 was supposed to look like.

Heck, because of the hatch, I'm almost liking it more than the F32 I have coming to me in three weeks (!) This may be a contender when my 435's lease runs out, that is, if they were offering it with the manual.

Coupe > Grand Coupe > Series 3

Who came up with this idea "Grand Coupe" ?
Dictionary said Coupe = 2doors

BMW is going with the original French word. They claim they mean it in terms of cutting down the roofline. Beats saying "3 series sedan and 3 series sleek hatchback"

"French coupé, from past participle of couper to cut, strike"

I like the look and actually the hatchback aspect lends practicality w/o looking like a hatch to me.

I think Mercedes started it and then VW built the Passat CC. I agree...they are sedans.

Correct, Mercedes CLS started the whole fad.

Nice !

Like the meaner FE of the 4, and the practicality of a 4 door and a hatch.
Dislike the added weight of the back glass.

But like>dislike, so with an upgrade in power (MPPK or piggy-back), should be my next car.

But don't tell that to my dealer...

Wow, I would say the exact opposite. I went shopping for a 335 and ended up ordering a 435. The 3-series looks so much more common. The less aggressive roof-line on the 3 makes it look like a grocery-getter when parked next to a 4-series, IMHO. Absolutely beautiful exterior lines on the 4GC.

Pop into a BMW lot and look at them both next to each other...

CarAdvice just took a 4GC as a long termer... interestingly one of the positives is "far more attractive than a 3-series"

That said, I personally think the 3-series looks ok. When my dealer popped around to my work carpark in an F30 I snapped this really bad pic of them side by side:

and they look very nearly the same to me

I think the 3 series has more of a classic and mature look. Meanwhile, the 4 has more of an aggressive and adventurous look.

I still like the backend styling of a 4 coupe over the gran coupe.

The 3 looks good, the 4GC looks fantastic. Love the lower and wider look, combined with the practicality of the hatch...game over

I test drove GC over the weekend. Absolutely loved it. Need 4 doors and am not even considering the 3er. Its just so bland all around.

They are both fantastic cars.....4GC has a more sportier look, but that doesn't mean the 3 is not sporty.

The 3 is definitely a sporty looking car on its own; plenty of much more boring and drab cars to park near and still look good.

If you have the luxury to choose between 3 and 4GC though, it's a bit of a no-brainer

I vote for the 4Series GC. Mainly because I'd like to justify my recent purchase

Getting the kids in/out of the car seat is a bit more challenging in the 4GC, as compared to the 3-series. This is mainly because of the lower roof line of the 4GC. Another thing is that the windows on the 4GC don't have any frames, so when you're putting the kids in/out of the car seat, the chances of someone getting their eye poked on the window edge are much higher.

My brother just got an all black 435 coupe with the AWESOME and HIGHLY reccomended Front splitter - his car looks awesome- I will be getting a Mineral Gray 435 GC version in a week or so (on the truck from Carolina now) with the front splitter as well- will take some side by side shots. As I told someone yesterday its like choosing between Selena Gomez (or Adrianna Lima if you prefer "older") in a black thong or in a gray thong.

4GC > 3 imo. By far. If I were going for a 4 door in that range I'd go with the 4. Similarly, I'd take a 6GC over a 7 series. Just more sporty without really sacrificing much.

I traded a 2012 328i sportline for 2015 435i GC sportline. The car is sleeker looking in person and the engine with sport AT is amazing.
