N55 Rod Bearing

Ik ik, yet another n55 rod bearing thread, but I had a genuine question about them.

So I’m looking at a 2013 f30 335i xdrive with the 6mt in it. Ik the synchros are glass but this car is in pristine condition for having 100k on it. previous owner was a mother who bought the thing and drove it for 40k miles simply bc her dad taught her how to drive stick and that’s all she ever drove up until a few months ago where she got a 4 runner.

I digress, I believe the engine in the car is the N55B30M0 but I’m not sure. Now my question here is Ik that around this time bmw changed what rod bearings they used in the n55 bc the early models were spinning bearings, especially after ofhg replacements, which we know now is just bc of people doing the job but not priming the oil system afterwards.

I found a thread on here from a while ago that said bmw changed the rod bearings used after 09/12/2012. The car I’m looking at has a build date of 05/2013 so if that info is correct it should have the new bearings? Still has the pwg but besides that, does anyone know for sure if it has the new rod bearings or the old ones from the s65?

It has the newer ones.. the thing to keep in mind is using decent oil and letting it come up to temp before getting into the throttle with any turbo car...

changed my rod bearings about 10k miles ago. My coworker said he would have reused them if he was still at the dealer 120k total mileage

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people say that rod bearings are normally in perfect condition until they get starved of oil and then u normally spin one. Apparently changing the bearings doesn’t do much preventively. In the early N55 case tho, bmw used the bearings out of the S65 which already had outstanding problems with oil flow
