Its got almost 200,000 and I love the car, but its about time to switch. I love having a 6-speed but my route to work has constant traffic so I am sad about having an auto but will survive and my left foot will be relieved.

I am currently looking more towards a 435i/440i Gran Coupe (RWD and M-Sport Preferably) as I really like the design more than the 3 sedan, and find the hatch to be very convenient. I know the steering will be nothing like my good ol' E46, but I'd like to hear your honest opinion. I haven't test driven one yet as I haven't had the time, the only car I've test driven is the S4 and S4 Sportback, which have great interiors and tech, but the steering was way to light and the throttle response wasn't very good for a sports car, so, whether you have a 3 or 4 series (with the 3L Turbo I6) tell me your honest opinions as i'm very curious about how the car would compare to my E46.

Also would love to see any photos of your car as I'm interested in what the colors look like in person rather than the BMW website.
I can't compare to an e46. But I moved from a 2014 320d

Here's my week old 440i with m performance goodies. Waiting for the new car detail in a couple of weeks before taking some decent pics.

Absolutely loving the car

My very 1st BMW was an E46 great fun car, having said that, the steering is different IMO it doesn't bother me too much I've had an E90, F30(X3) and the 1st version and current LCI version of the F36 Gran Coupe I really enjoy the GC it's very sporty yet convenient because of the hatch. It's my daily driver and it's just a fun car to drive.
I did get to test drive the Audi A5 SB and talk about soft steering even after I put the car on their version of Sport mode the steering was nowhere near the BMW steer stiffness that we get. YES Audi has lots of gadgets in their cars but BMW now has the digital dash that looks really cool, but YES BMW needs to step up on their tech gadgets.
Take the time to test drive the GC you will like the way it drives.
I have the Snapper Blue with Night Blue interior.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Did BMW installed the rear spoiler? Thinking of getting one on my GC.

It will be quite different. An M sport F36 is an excellent car but IMO none of the F chasssis cars are as playful or soulful as the E46. Buy as you likely know, BMW doesn’t make a modern E46. If you want that, your best bet is the Cadillac ATS or maybe a Jaguar XE. Audis and BMWs are prettt soulless machines these days, albeit very very competent ones.

After owning 2013 BMW 335i xDrive sedan, my current vehicle is 2017 BMW 440i GC M Sport. I have to admit it's perhaps on the best cars I've owned.

Here’s a 500 mile review I recently wrote about my new 440i GC: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1450310
She's in Carbon Black with Ivory White interior and Carbon Aluminium trim, and arrived at the end of November. As you can see from the pics, Carbon Black can look very different, depending on light conditions.
I had an F31 330D with MPPK immediately before, and before that, a string of 5 series.
The 440i GC is a lovely car – refined, fast, handsome, comfortable and reasonably economical given the power. Some options such as adaptive LED lights and adaptive suspension are key, IMO, but others will disagree, I’m sure. Tyre choice is also key to handling/ride comfort although you can’t influence what is fitted at the factory, unfortunately. Mine came on Bridgestone Potenza RFT's which makes for a fidgety ride, so I will be replacing soon.
As for the steering, it’s an improvement over what I’m used to. I had the VSS option on my pre-LCI F31, which just felt light, all the time. I know that BMW steering is never going to be what it was since they went electronic all those years ago, but the F36 LCI standard rack feels nicely weighted on turn in and doesn’t need correcting much when you’re heading in a straight line on the motorway.
Good luck
