Not much to mod on a lease. Black kidney grills is all I can think of that's temporary.

Whatever you add will have to be removed before you turn it in. If it's anything expensive you have to consider what you'll do with it afterwards. My main mods were going to all LED lighting and extensive coding and wrapping of interior trim, but I'm not leasing, so I don't have to worry about returning anything back to stock.

For a leased car, the recommendation I like best is, "leave it alone". Play with what you own. See signature.

Modding Leased F34

I just turned in a leased 2016 328ix GT. Did a stage 1 ECU Tune (+80hp) and all the convenience codings, turned it back in without any hassle. (CodeMyCar.com) These made the car much more fun to drive.

NYC parking scratch protection: put some Xpel on the rear bumper, got a Bumpshox for the front, and used a ParkingArmor guard in the rear when parking.

Don't bother with physical mods other than swapping out for non-run flat / performance tires if your mileage / driving location permit.

I'd agree few weeks ago a story was in my news feed. Some guy started modding his BMW and was making youtube videos.

BMW found out about this and demanded full payment in a week, as this was noted in the contract. Maybe it was a loan from BMW Financial, but I'd imagine they would be the same.

If it was a loan BMW wouldn't care. But if it's a lease they do, because you don't own the car, they do.

that was the UK and it was more like what the US would consider a lease i believe. The way he financed the car, he didnt own it and BMW still did (or something like that.)

UK has a few different ways of going about securing financing on cars

In the US a personal loan is rarely used to buy a car, because the interest rates tend to be much higher than an auto loan, what you call hire purchase. What you call PCP is an open end lease here, where you have the option to buy the car at lease end or walk away. PCH here is a closed end lease, where you don't have the option to buy.

Sure, mostly none of us use BMW unless they have a better rate special.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't read the fine print!

BMW Financial, and all auto company owned financial services, exist primarily to promote the sale of their cars, so they tend to have the best rates. There are exceptions of course, so it literally pays to shop around.
