Seems to me that Sondland is singing a tune he hopes will get him out of the crosshairs. Other testimony has him deeply involved. His statement reads like "I did what I was told. I'm just a poor multimillionaire hotel magnate that Trump put into this role. What do I know about all this statecraft stuff."

He's also highly respected and was supported by both parties during his nomination and confirmation.

Nice try though.

Which has nothing to do with the gist of his prepared statement which is filled with "I didn't know", "I wasn't there" and the like. Very well crafted, probably cost him a pretty penny.

There is no try.

my comment was directly in counter to your "trump put him in office". Thats simply not true, he was put into office as a bipartisan effort because he's a well respected person. Theres no reason to believe he is trying to lie or weasel his way out of it.

If we start calling everyone liars just because our views do not align with theirs, we have bigger problems. (oh wait, thats already happening)

So whose testimony are you believing over this one? Would love to see it.

Do you live in some made up world different from the rest of us?

I haven't stopped laughing for over 30 minutes. Did you guys see this clip of the Democrats crying about how mean Trump was to them and how he called them communists and third-rate politicians? This is the funniest thing to happen since he was elected. Watch them cry hahahahaha
 SALTY TEARS

Yeah Mitch is suddenly going to flip and try to get the votes to have Trump removed. God the left is delusional.
No, I live in the real world. How about you?

He was put in office because he donated $1 million to the Trump inauguration fund.

I love how all the articles are from the last few days. LOL I find it comical that only NOW are people questioning the loyalties of Sondland. Its been no secret he was a trump donor.

Heres the original source: https://www.opensecrets.org/news/201...-inauguration/

As if it matters. Pretty sure theres not a president thats ever been elected that did not put their heavy donors in places of power.

That’s how one gets an ambassadorship. Long standing practice on both sides of the aisle. Ceremonial positions, with the career State Dept folks trying to do the real work (along with CIA).

Of course, this crap happens every administration cycle. But apparently it is worse under Trump.

He was not installed as EU ambassador for his diplomatic acumen.

Captain Blood If the Republicans kick out Trump their chances of winning in 2020 are almost nothing like 10% chance of winning. Shock the gay away Pence? He has the stink of Trump all over him.

I think you are delusional if you think McConnell may want to fast track an impeachment vote. it would be damning for the party, cause in fighting, makes the republicans look weak and divided. No way it happens going into an election year. It just not going to happen.

If this was 1st year of Trump? Sure maybe, I still don't think so but it would give them 3 years to recover. This would give them less than a calendar year.

The evidence would have to be so damning beyond

Honestly, I am happy Trump asked Ukraine to get involved. Something fishy was going on with Hunter Biden. His interview was perfect, he is such a fucking idiot, "I would not have got those jobs if my last name was not Biden" HOW THE FUCK is that not quid pro quo. I get the job because of my Dad and his connections. They hope if they give me a lot of money that it will influence my father.

That interview is going to cost Joe any chance. Period.

My old pal, cough, Jesse Jackson has already hinted at his new admiration for Warren. Oops, that can't be good.

He donated millions to Trump's inauguration fund. That's how he got the nod from Donald. And if Trump never nominated him he never would have gotten the job. It is a small point you're making.

It reads like it reads. I don't see lying and never said so. But his butt is being covered by his legal team for sure. If you want to call that weaseling go ahead. I did not.

I didn't call him a liar. I don't call everyone whose views do not align to mine liars. (I do not know what his views are so that would be a hard thing to do anyway.) Also didn't hear his testimony or that of any of the others.

I made an observation. You leapt to several inaccurate conclusions based on that. Pot/kettle.

Depending on whether he keeps his mouth reasonably shut and depending on whomever the Democrats choose as the opposition in the election, he will either be reelected in 2020 or not.
Do you think the right will run a candidate who was impeached by the House?

Any statement about Trump that starts with "Depending upon whether he can keep his mouth shut..." should end with "Ah, yeah, nevermind."

Mick Mulvaney has acknowledged the Ukraine aid was quid pro quo for an investigation into the Biden's. It appears that WH has realized the house cards is crumbling, they can't control the fallout, and that people are going against WH direction not to testify in the impeachment investigation. They're all F'ed.
