I guess it depends. I've had cars arrive and be PDI'd the same day, and I've had cars arrive and it take a day or two.

Usually 0 to 7 days depending on backlog and if there is shipping damage to repair or campaigns to be executed.

Pdi is done at dealer-- the longest I've ever had to wait on a pdi is 3 hours ---don't know where these guys saying this could take days on here are pulling those numbers from.

Ummmm, because maybe it has taken days depending on the situation. Like I stated before, I've had cars transferred from one dealer to another via flatbed and PDI'd the same day (..example, my current 2014 335i), and I've had cars arrive at the dealer from the port via transport truck (..example, my 2005 ZCP M3) and not be ready for a day or two (..and in that situation there was a lot of that shipping grease/goo on my car that they wanted to remove because it wasn't done very well at the port). Why insinuate that we are lying? What would be the point of that?

not saying anyone is lying--and was primarily for the poster that stated up to 7 days---I honestly dont think any PDI would EVER take 7 days unless something MAJOR was wrong with the car----anything more than 1-2 days is almost unheard of on a PDI.

My 428i arrived at the dealer last Wednesday mid morning and I picked it up at 3 that same day. Not sure if I had priority, however.

With my previous one, the dealership had the car ready within hours of it arriving as well.

PDI is not as simple of a process as all of you seem to believe, used to be a mechanic with a BMW dealer. Alll the work has to be carried out to a T and we must follow a checklist required by BMW. For a full PDI inspection done correctly and a proper clean of vehicle, 8 hours minimum is required after delivery of vehicle to it's PDI centre. If the vehicle has additional after sales ad ons eg; tint, leather protection, paint protection of aftermarket accessories, you will obviously add more time.
There is also the case of possible transport damage. In which case repairs must be made to a BMW standard.
But after all is said and done you must still remember that there is more going on than just working with one guest there is multiple guest vehicles on the go, and we work to satisfy every customer 100 percent, and cause you as little hassle as possible. The vehicle will get to you as soon as possible and on date promised whenever possible.
If it was as quick and easy as some of you believe we would be out of a job.

3 hours does not seem viable for a proper check.
